To whom it may concern,Since this organization promotes businesses in ******************, I wanted to make you aware of a business practice I experienced 2 days ago. On a business trip this week, I stayed at the Resort City Inn, having prepaid online for their services ( non-refundable). Upon arrival there was a hand written note on the office door, stating a $12 fee, per night, will be assessed for parking in their lot. There had been no indication of this fee the first week of January 2023, when prepaying online. When leaving January 24th, the note had been changed to a printout and the fee notice added to their website. I judge this to be a sly, backhanded method of doing business and warned my associates in ****************** to be wary of doing business with this establishment. Upfront honesty is a worthwhile reputation to encourage among your community.

When you prepay, you book through another company and pay another company, better known as an online travel agent. Sometimes the information that you receive is not accurate or updated. Our direct website, our direct online booking engine, and most well-known larger booking sites, such as Expedia, Agoda/Priceline and Booking.com make our prospective guests completely aware of this $12 parking charge. Some of the lesser-known, smaller online travel agents pop up frequently, booking our rooms without our knowledge, giving inaccurate information. As we are made aware of these sites, we do try to contact them immediately to update the information displayed by them on their sites. Unfortunately, we dont control when new online travel agents appear and what information they give our guests, which can be frustrating for us and our guests. Parking charges are typical of hotels in popular tourist destinations, but we do try to keep our fee lower than most. The fee has been added as a way of ensuring that our guests are guaranteed a parking place in our lot and to prevent patrons that are not guests of the hotel from parking in our lot. We appreciate your concerns, as well as helping us spread the word that we do have a $12 parking charge. It is helpful in preventing future guests from being caught off guard by the false information given by online travel agents when they prepay! In the future, we encourage you to book directly with a hotel, rather than using online travel agents, as information will typically be accurate and up to date like our direct site is. Expedia (a large, worldwide company) was used to book this trip, which gave the best rate. The parking fee now drops your establishment off the 'best deal' list.
