I contacted All Breed k9 Academy to get some training for my dog. The owner and trainer, *****, called me and asked me a few questions about my dog. I felt like I could not get a word in during this conversation; he kept cutting me off and talking over me. We set up an agreed-upon date and time for me to bring my dog in for an evaluation. That day came, and we drove over an hour and arrived at the agreed time and location of his business, which was at his private residence. After knocking on the door multiple times and making a phone call with no answer, his son greeted me, stating that ***** had gone to the doctor and received an allergy shot which made him sleepy and that he was trying to wake him up. We decided to wait a few minutes, and the owner eventually came out, stating that "This is going to be like I'm drunk!". No greetings, no apologies, just stating he would be acting like he was drunk because of the allergy shot. I talked with him briefly, and he said he would still "observe" my dog. I did not feel comfortable with him evaluating my dog. After a few minutes of him talking over me and acting under the influence, I told him I was not comfortable with him evaluating my dog under these circumstances. This was a very unprofessional experience and I would not feel safe leaving my dog under the care of this facility and person. I understand that people have bad days, but I would have been much more comfortable if the owner had taken responsibility for his actions and rescheduled for a better day instead of trying to insist that he continue with the evaluation. My dog has aggression issues, which he knew prior to my arrival, and he did not prepare for that whatsoever and admitted to me in our conversation that he would have prepared more if he was not in his current state.
