The job of a boarding facility is to keep a dog safe and happy. Yesterday a local boarding facility failed us.We boarded the dogs locally, and they knew our dog Ranger especially well. We've told them many times that he has anxiety a lot, and needs to be supervised while outside and especially during stormy weather. We've told them that he needs to be on a leash or in a kennel around those times or if he seems anxious (even if its not storming), as we, too, have learned that if he's having anxiety, he tries to escape. With that, we now keep him on a leash while outside and supervise him. We made this known, and they still were okay with boarding him over the past few years, and we trusted that they would take care of him. During our trip, there was a storm back home that day, off and on all day, (even though they tried to tell us there wasn't on the phone) Ranger wasn't on a leash or in a kennel because, the place that boarded him let him escape somehow, even though his hips wouldn't even let him over our 4 foot fence. He had to have been terrified to supposedly somehow get over two 6 foot fences. Regardless, he was hit by a car and died. I got a voicemail about him being missing, after the fact as I was out of service and clearly, he wasn't supervised and was left alone in a yard for around 30 minutes per the voicemail. I never got the call from them that he had died. We had to call the owner. When we called a second time to figure out where his body was and if it had been picked up etc. we only heard from her boyfrien This was avoidable and negligent. They knew better. If they couldn't listen to my dogs needs, or pass along those needs to other employees, and respect what he needed to keep him safe.. will they listen to your dogs needs and keep yours safe Regardless of the details, my dog was left unattended, somehow ended up outside of the boarding facility, and got killed. Do what you want with that information.
