We signed a contract with Desert Sage K9 for $1800 to train our dogs. We received 3 lessons out of 8 total paid for. We could not continue the lessons because the "trainer" ***** Nourse mistreated our dogs and was insulting and and rude to us rather than helping to train our dogs as promised. Desert Sage Academy K9 refused to return any of the training funds as a clause in the predatory contract stated would be the case should we not complete the training.***** Nourse and Desert Sage Academy uses unqualified dog training methods rather than the LIMA training techniques approved by *************** of ************ Dog Trainers, which the Desert Sage Academy claims to be a member of according to their website. She recommended a ************************* prong collar for our dogs and used a pop/leash correction method, which caused my dog to defecate on the floor three separate times when the collar was forcefully put on and used by this trainer. Neither or these training methods/equipment are listed as LIMA compliant and caused repeated distress to the dogs.Desert Sage Academy and **************** did not follow correct training procedures and ultimately terrorized our dogs in the process of "training", plus the training agreed to was not completed. For these and other reasons we request a refund for the entire amount of the contract.

Mr. ***** ******************* were aware of our contract, our philosophy and our techniques from the beginning. However most of what they have stated is not true. At the consultation, they had admitted to hitting and yelling at the dogs because they didn't know what else to do. They are complaining about us using a prong collar however ******************* is the one that asked if we use those and suggested it and wanted to try it on one of her dogs. The dog that defecated in her house, had done so when she had the leash and was choking the dog. Once I got the dog, it stopped pulling and put the collar on and when handing her back the leash, the dog did not want to go to her. Mr. ***** ******************* were both argumentative with us, they did not want to do as we instructed and they were aggressive with their handling of the dogs. We had to ask them to calm down and be easier on the leash many times. When we would handle the dog, the dog did fine, but when either of them handled the dog, they were very scared and always trying to get away.  This went on for 3wks. On week 3 they did not want to understand that we know the dogs are not regularly being worked with because they could not even walk either dog on a leash and get it to sit. The dogs were scared to death. They both became aggressive with my husband and I and ****************** started pointing in my face and walked right up to my face and was yelling at me and becoming more and more aggressive, being belligerent and cussing at me. I told him I would not tolerate being spoken to like that and he needed to backup and his wife agreed. Then she went to go put one of the dogs away to just work with one dog at a time and he started being boligerant again and got in my face again and told me to "Fing Leave". So I told him to ask his wife to contact me and I would arrange to train with her and pick classes back up with her.  She did not call me for almost 2wks and then I scheduled classes and she cancelled 3 times. Then told me they would not be continuing and wanted a refund. I reminded her that my contract states there is a no refund policy that they agreed to, which you can see in the copies they provided. My contract is not predatory, there is nothing hidden, it is very clear and in bold type and we do not focus on a specific class of people. In my opinion, they are both very aggressive with their dogs, he made it very clear on many occasions to my husband and I in the 3wks that her husband didn't want the dogs anyway. After dealing with her husband and how abusive he was with me, I am sure he abuses those dogs, which would cause them to not like him and bark aggressively towards him, which is what made ******************* call me in the first place. Also, if she thought our techniques were to aggressive or the equipment, we used was aversive then why did they sign up with us? We explained everything to them and that we are Balanced Trainers. If our style, equipment or techniques did not align with what they wanted to use, there are many other trainers they could have gone to. But I stand by my contract and they were aware of the policies from the beginning. It is interesting to me how people think they can agree to something and then back out and demand it to change and that they should not have to adhere to what was agreed upon. This is why companies have contracts, so policies are known upfront.
