I received a call from a collection agency claiming to represent EZCORP EZMONEY: LAR Mediations ******************************************************* TEL: ********** Stating that I owed a debt from an original collector: EZCORP EZMONEY of $800 for a payday loan they say I took out back around 2010 supposedly (approximately 13 years ago. I have no idea what this is referencing to and they also stated a past employer, former address and previous bank account. They stated that they have attempted to get a hold of me in the past and yet I have never heard of this company before. They stated this is a notification of lawsuit and civil complaint. I have never received any notifications regarding this debt. They also stated the last 4 digits of a SSN as well. Can you please help me to figure out what this is all about? They are threatening to take me to court if I don't settle the debt for $1,532.95. They also stated that if I don't settle I would have to pay approximately $3,500.00 because of interest that has accumulated on the original loan. I never heard of these company and I diffidently do not remember taking out any loan with this company. I did a website search of this company found that The **** EZCORP collected debts from consumers through unlawful in-person collection visits at their homes or workplaces, risked exposing consumers' debts to third parties, falsely threatened consumers with litigation for non-payment of debts, and unfairly made multiple electronic withdrawal attempts from wages and bank accounts. Also, a search of LAR Mediations collection company did not yield any usable or valid information.
