On 7/25/2023 I purchased an insurance policy with Insure Idaho LLC for my painting business, ****** Painting. I have paid my policy premiums on time and in full with the said company. On 2/28/2024, I called and spoke with ****** to cancel my policy as I was moving out of state and would no longer need the policy. I received confirmation by email on 2/29/24 that my policy was in fact cancelled. ****** had stated on the phone that "we were good" and nothing more was needed in cancellation of policy. The policy had been paid in full up to date of cancellation, last payment of $83.91 was paid on 1/25/2024.Fast forward to 5/29/2024 I had received a collection notice in the amount of $139.59 an unexplained bill. It came as a surprise as the last conversation with Insure Idaho/****** did not state that anything more was owed monetarily on account nor does it state a cancellation fee on their policy or paperwork. I was quite discouraged with ****** when I called and he claimed there was nothing he could do in regards to the collection bill sent to me as I had called and asked him what the bill was even for after being paid in full at time of cancellation. They refused to accept responsibility and claimed it was the policy holder Auto Owners Insurance as they were the broker only. Insure Idaho/****** & ******** (whom no longer employs there) wrote policy, made quote, took payments, sent policy and cancelled policy and they are stating they are not responsible. This company did not reach out properly with effort. They had my email, phone number to reach me and instead sent me to collections based on the their ********************* across the board. I would not recommend these companies to anyone as they have unethical practices for the hardworking people of ******* that pay their bills.In all my 27 years in business, I have never heard of a cancellation fee like this.Business response

Hi- Once we cancel a policy, we don't control if there is still a pro-rated amount due and/or any cancellation fees. This is all generated by Auto-Owners. If they charge a cancellation fee, it would be on their end, and it would be after the cancellation is processed. At the time the cancellation was sent in, there may not have been anyting due on the policy, but once the cancellation is generated in their system, they can charge fees. Just to reiterate that, we as Insure Idaho do not charge cancellation fees, that is the carrier.
The insured failed to mention that he moved and didn't forward his mail, so Auto-Owners was mailing him a bill, he just didn't receive it. This is not the fault of the agency or the carrier, the insured didn't do his part with the address change. (We have him telling us on this on a recorded phone call).
The insured also failed to mention that he continued to swear numerous times at my employee ******, when talking about this matter. We have this phone call recorded for reference if needed. Since the insured was so unpleasant with my employee, I sent him an email stating that he would need to reach out to Auto-Owners to take care of his bill as we don't accept that type of language here at our agency.
The insured is upset that he is in collections, but he failed to check his mail and/or change his address, so that is on him. Insure Idaho also doesn't control the billing fees after cancellation, that is Auto-Owners. None of this is a reflection of Insure Idaho. In fact, I would make a complaint if I could against said insured as a consumer becuase of the language that he used with my staff. Please delete this complaint as this is not valid at all. I am rejecting this response because:Insure Idaho is passing the responsibility on the policies that they write and collect money for and cancel. I disagree with them not being responsible for it. In my opinion they are fully responsible when their representative ****** states my policy in cancelled, I am assuming we are done with business at that point. The postoffice in *****, ID had my forwarding address for correspondence and I never received anything but a collections notice. Insure Idaho has my phone number and email address which they did not reach out at all regarding this bill except to complain about my contact with ******. This is a terrible way to do business. The customer used to mean something in my day. I disagree with this company and how they conduct business. Also, I was not notified on any occasion that I was being recorded, this is against the law.
