I have attached a detailed summary of the events with dates and pictures but to give you an idea here, we hired Restoration 1 of Treasure Valley to restore our bathroom after a flood. They negotiated an approved estimate with the insurance company but then would not do the work approved by and paid for by the insurance company. They ultimately walked the job. They are claiming we changed the job order, which we did not. The only job description we have ever gotten is the approved estimate from the insurance company and that is the work they were supposed to complete. They later notified us that they could not return to work for another month and a half, after walking off the job and leaving us in a hotel, then said they knew we couldn't wait that long so feel free to find someone else to finish the job. Now they are saying they are entitled to keep all of the overhead and profit on the whole job, even the work they didn't even do. Their contract does say "a 20% up charge for uncompleted work shall be charged to The Client in the event The Company is terminated for any reason." We did not terminate them, they walked off the job then told us they could not finish in a timely manner so we should hire someone else. They still owe us $700.76 which allows them to keep the allowances for sheetrock and door casing, which were both done wrong and had to be torn out and replaced (see photos attached). We have had to pay another contractor to finish the job so we could move back home. We have tried to settle with Restoration 1, giving them all the monies for the items they worked on, whether done properly or not, but they are unwilling to return what they owe us. We don't know if BBB can help us get our money back, but we also feel a responsibility to alert other people about the work ethic of this company, as well as the language of their contract if they are able to get away with this.
