I have a handicapped wife who needs 24/7 care. I am her only caregiver and due to no help lost my job. I sold most anything and purchased 2 Arjo Huntleigh patient lifts. One is their Maxi Move. The battery for it costs ****** dollars. In the past 5 years I have gone through numerous batteries that lasted 3-6 months and quit. I only perform 2 lifts per day. Arjo always replaced them as the stopped prior to their one year warranty. . Now they have no warranty so I had to purchase another one 3 months of the previous battery. Well they sent a technician to verify everything was working ok with the lift. Nothing found. The tech. Said it was the battery charger so I had to purchase that also. Another ****** dollars. $400.00 for the service call. Its been 3 months and the battery is shot again. I purchased a rebuilt battery from OSI batteries the same time as the new Arjo battery and it still is working as new. Summary, The Arjo batteries for the Maxi Moves are faulty and Arjo is doing nothing to correct the problem. Hospitals, Rehab Centers and such have the money to continue dishing it out for batteries or they are leased units and Arjo doesnt care about replacing batteries every 3 months. But for a low income household, $****** dollars is a large amount that I cant afford. Arjo needs to correct their problem or make the battery case able to come apart so we may replace the 2 $30.00: batteries inside the case. They make the cases so a consumer is unable to split the case without damaging it. OSI batteries, *********** **. , use to rebuild them but since quit due to the difficulties involved with splitting the case to remove bad batteries. Arjo makes these cases this way so they can sell you another $600.00 battery.. Something needs to be done to stop them. It is fraud and stealing.
