Wednesday October 20th 2021 Purchased a 2007 Ford F-150FX2 that had just over 79000 miles on it. Set -up to tow a small trailer. $14,300. Dealer stated vehicle was a one owner and talked about how few miles it had on it. How he and his brother, a mechanic, had gone all over the vehicle and it would be a great vehicle for towing and longevity. Stated several times over the proceeded issues and days that there was nothing seriously wrong with the vehicle even after two different mechanics said otherwise, one of which was a certified Ford Dealer. Both garages deemed the vehicle had serious engine failure. Ford Dealer diagnosed , at the least it needed a whole new timing chain, but a great possibility of bad engine. My mechanic diagnosed it needing and new engine. Dealer admitting it had a small problem with the wiring and dropped the price by 700 dollars saying that would be far more than needed to fix the small wiring problem. When contacted about problems dealer ch*****ged the honesty of the mechanics and their ability. Did offer to pay 1/3 of the cost of replacing the timing belt. $2787.98. I asked about the engine itself, was it damaged, he said it likely is but we won't know unless we take off the valve covers to inspect the cams. That would cost me another $515.20. New engine including installation, $6500.00 at my mechanic but probably twice that at a Ford Dealer. The car was purchased as is but was represented , over and over, as being within major engine problems. I asked for a complete refund where we both would not be out any money at all. During the time from taking delivery of this vehicle until today, I have driven the vehicle home, 85 miles, and then to two different mechanics. No other use has ben made of the vehicle. His final response, "DO whatya gotta do" !

My name is ****** ******* owner of Milton Motors writing you a response letter about customer ****** *****. Mr. ***** contacted me around October 14 liked the 2007 Ford F150 and gave me a $200 deposit after that the truck developed an issue. We pulled the truck in and checked it out and replaced coils, spark plugs, and VVT solenoid and etc. At that point I called Mr. ***** and told hum we wanted to fix the truck before we sold it to him. Not wanting him to have any issues! For days he called me wanting the truck to the point I said I will just give you your deposit back. He said no I want the truck I will wait. So after a few days of working on it I called him back and said we have fixed all we can and we think their is still a problem with the wiring but not for sure. I will give you your deposit back or I will give you $700 off the price to fix repairs. He had a cashiers check for $14,146 and we gave him a company check refund $745.00. Mr ***** contacted me a few days later saying the motor was bad. I said the engine was in limp mode it will seem like it is bad but it is in limp mode. I said get a second opinion. Take the F150 to a ford dealer to get the computer reflashed because of the new cam sensor the computer is not reading it. They said the engine has many codes, pertainign to the timing chain being changed could POSSIBLY have damage to the engine. But I think while having only 79XXX miles probably would not have damage. I sold the vehicle AS IS Mr. ***** knew the truck had an issue. But I did offer to pay 1/2 the timing chain bill to make is right. Which I sent him a check for $1361.22

      Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:  My response to his letter.

My name is ****** ******* owner of Milton Motors writing you a response letter about customer ****** *****. Mr. ***** contacted me around October 14 liked the 2007 Ford F150 and gave me a $200 deposit after that the truck developed an issue.

Doesn't this seem a little fishy? “AFTER THAT THE TRUCK DEVELOPED AN ISSUE” The truck did not have an issue before? No mention was made of any issue at all. It was represented by Mr. ******* as a vehicle that has low miles and will last a long time. The price on this vehicle alone would imply that it has no issues.

We pulled the truck in and checked it out and replaced coils, spark plugs, and VVT solenoid and etc. At that point I called Mr. ***** and told hum we wanted to fix the truck before we sold it to him. Not wanting him to have any issues!

This is not the full story. This is what I was told on this call from Mr. *******. Hey ******, I decided to change the plugs and coilds in the truck ( no reason given) and ended up braking a plug off in the head. It takes a special tool to get it out which I do not have. I have a fella I know come over after he gets off of work to take it out for me.
I asked if there is anything serious or may be broken and he assured me that they would have it right out with no problems. I replied OK call me as soon as it is done. I never received any calls for Mr ******* during this time that were not prompted by me first. A call every day was made because he kept saying the guy didn't show up, he'll be here tomorrow. We went through another weekend and I called again on Monday morning and he said he would give him one more chance to come and fix it. Tuesday morning I called and he said he had a different guy coming in and he would be there that eveining. I called Wednesday morning and he said “ hey listen, we got the plug out, I took it for a long drive with no issues until I stopped at a stop light and it began to shake and run unsteady. I put it back on the machine and it says it is a simple wiring problem. You have a good mechanic dont you? I will take 700 dollars off the price if you take it the way it is and take it to your mechanic to solve this little problem. It will be very simple and you will be on your way with a great running truck. I had many questions but he assured me that it was a small problem and that 700 dollars was far more than would be needed to repair it.

For days he called me wanting the truck to the point I said I will just give you your deposit back. He said no I want the truck I will wait. It was not so simple of a conversation about this.

I drove the truck straight to my home and did not drive it again until I took it to my mechaics for a diagnoses.
I got a call from my mechanics telling me the engine was bad, I called My ******* immediately. His reponse was no way that engine only has 79000 on it, I will call you back, I need to talk to my mechanic (who I believe is his brother).
When he called back he told me how these little shops just don't know what they are doing, and they are trying to rip you off. You have to take it to a Ford dealer because they need to reset the computer. I was more than angry at this poinbt and told him how he stole my money and lied to me about it from the very beginning. He saiud it is a simple reboot and will only cost a couple hundred dollars. I said you have me backed in the corner with a junk truck.
I called the closest Ford Dealer and told him what was going on and asked him if he had ever heard of this before, an engine being bad with so low miles. He said “I wouldn't doubt it.

After the Ford inspection I was given the fulkl diagnosis that he was 100% sure the timing chain needed replaced. I asked about engine damage otherwise. He stated that it was common to have damage if the vehicle continues to be driven with the bad chain.
      Opinion of certified Ford dealer.
Once again I called Mr *******.
This time I was more agitated and was made even more agitated when he proceeded to say the same things about the Ford dealer that he did about my mechanics. They were all wrong and he was right.
I told hinm several times I wanted my money back and he could have the truck back since he insisted it had no problems.
His reply was, it is your truck not mine,I sent the paperwork in . It was as is, my reply then is as it is now. Since when does that piece of paper allow you to do your best to say how good it is and represent it as good only to at the end say “AS IS”

But I think while having only 79XXX miles probably would not have damage. I sold the vehicle AS IS Mr. ***** knew the truck had an issue. But I did offer to pay 1/2 the timing chain bill to make is right. Which I sent him a check for $1361.22
This last statement is all lies. What gives him the authority to make a statement about a vehicle against the factual evidence given by two different garages?

I did not know the truck had an issue until her was forced into admitting it but assured that it is very small and easily and inexpensively remedied.

If did offer to pay about 1/3 of the cost of the timing chain replacement, I said oh no you dont get off that easy, it takes another 550 worth ODF diagnosis to determine the extent of the engine damage.

I did not accept, nor have I gotten any kind of chaeck from Mr *******.

My point and complaint is this: This vehicle was presented as well worth the money it was priced at with no problems at all.

Even to this day Mr. ******* believes that he is right about this vehicle.
He swore that his guys could fix this without any problems and said if I had this truck right now I could get it fixed.

I called his bluff and said to him. OK, I will take the vehicle to you. You call me when it is done. I will take it back for diagnosis to be sure it is repaired and if it is, we are done.
He sai let me call my mechanic. He called back a short time later saying things like he couldn't get it in, they just agree with the Ford dealer and a lot of other gibberish.,

My final words to Mr ******* were; why dont you do what is right?
He responded by saying, “do whatcha gotta do” and hung up on me.

I know Mr ******* has been around this world of wheeling and dealing for along time. Enough time to know what he can get by with and what he cannot. I , and the other hand, do not have the know how of dealing but I know when I have been cheated. I have a vehicle sitting in my drivewqay that I cannot trust to get me anywhere and he has 14000 dollars.

I know he will win because thats the easy way for everyone but me.

      Sincerely,

      ****** *****

i stated everything in my last response letter that was the truth. No sense in going back and forth with what was said. I will say I never hung up on Mr. *****. I do know Mr. ***** bought the vehicle AS IS knowing it had an issue and agreed to take it and have it fixed. I took $700 off the price and said I will mail him a check for half of the timing chain bill below.
