************ Today I had a great feeling telling someone about my bathrooms we had remodeled and enjoying oohs and aahs when showing them all that was done.We owe that to Sandcastle Builders in *******, Il. , who was recommended to us. They came and talked about what we were looking for our 30 year old bathrooms. One bathroom needed updating, the other needed complete gutting and changing it to easy access shower plus wheel chair accessible. ***** was kind and listened to all our concerns. He brought his team to see work to be done in all areas. Reassuring knowing they were all on the same page. Both bathrooms were upstairs. Putting our needs first, ***** suggested they work one bathroom at a time. This surprised us, as most builders would not have wanted to call their men in two times to do almost the same work in both rooms.Paperwork received was very detailed. Work to be done, time line and cost broken per items. We knew exact time contractors would come, told names of people entering ahead of time. Everyone working were respectful, not messing up other parts of the house and cleaning up their work space each day. ***** and ***** stopped by to check on their workers showing concern for their work crew and always checked if we liked what had been done or had questions. This made us feel actively involved.Picking tile, and bathroom fixtures, ***** was there to guide us. She guided us to where it could be found. We did not have to worry that we were being guided to spend money foolishly She was honest with us when she thought something wouldnt work.If there is one bad thing to say about Sandcastle Builders it was saying goodbye to ********************** and all who worked here. It felt like saying goodbye to someone in our family. If anyone is looking for work to be done we would suggest Sandcastle Builders. Their detail in contract writing, their care for their costumers, their ethics, their crew and detailed workmanship speaks for itselfReview from Greta R

Sandcastle Builders and Development helped transform our house into a place we love to be. Our recent renovation--converting our first floor half bath into a full bath, restructuring of the laundry room, converting a section of our first floor into an ensuite, and all new flooring--is stunning. Their amazing team guided us every step of the way. ***** and ***** are a wonderful team leading an extraordinary group of workers. All of the workmanship was quality. ***** guided us in what we needed to purchase, made suggestions on where to purchase and how to save money, and she made our vision come to life. We look forward to working with Sandcastle again.Review from Mark H

Although everything started out fine , Everything became an extra for example paint the walls extra , stain and varnish the wood trim and doors extra and on and on Then if I asked one of the crew something ***** would tell me to stop talking to them. When I pointed out that the cold air return was not done correctly he said it was , I later showed the inspector it and he said he could red tag the job at which point I told him I would correct it myself after I got done painting the bath , hallway and bedroom. In the end I should have hired the company that did my kitchen. One last thing ***** was very good in helping .Sandcastle Builders & Development, Inc. Response

In response to the review given by *************************, I (***********************) would like to dispute his statements. First and foremost, I would like to ask why this review is just now coming to light on June 16th, 2023, 9 months after our completed contract/final invoice date 10/15/2022? On the Proposal dated March 4th under the Painter Heading it states Cost TBD (To Be Determined), so that would indeed be an extra charge. This was not a surprise to ************************* as I sat with him and ***** (***** wife) and went through the proposal line by line at which time I mentioned to them that they were welcome to use their own painter for the walls, doors and trim. When it came time to paint ************************* stated he would do all the painting himself with the exception of the doors and trim. ************************* hired Sandcastle Builders to do all the staining. In response to the ************************* talking to my crew, initially this was not a problem, until it became a daily occurrence with long conversations that were unrelated to the project. Sharing life stories with my crew, which in turn slowed up them up to complete their daily work. Several different trades called or mentioned to me their concerns that they were losing time and money. ************************* would also hover over the crew and at times be in the way. My contract states under ARTICLE 7 OWNER 7.1The Owner shall communicate with subcontractors only through the General Contractor (Sandcastle Builders and Development, ****** And the customer agreed to the statement by signing the contract. ************************* went behind my back and asked my plumber to do other things that were unrelated to the project/proposal. My plumber communicated to me what ************************* wanted him to do. Which I approved my plumber to do, but then asked ************************* to please have all communications and or questions to go through the me the General Contractor and not my crew, as my contract states. In response to the cold air return, his statement is incorrect. I called the Village ahead of time and told them what we were doing. The cold air return was wall mounted and we had to relocate it to the floor in the same location, being that there wasnt going to be a wall there anymore. I hired a licensed HVAC contractor to alter the wall vent to a floor boot. We did not alter any duct runs, just the very end of the run. The statement from ************************* that the inspector said we would be red tagged is untrue, as I mentioned above, I did call the Village to let them know what we were doing, and we passed inspection. Just a side note, the Village would never pass inspection with the word of a homeowner saying they will fix the problem. I find this quite odd that ************************* ended his statement by wishing that they hired the contractor that remodeled their kitchen. ************************* continuously bad-mouthed this company from my very first visit, to my walk through with my subs, and continued on once we were hired. He communicated to each and every subcontractor his displeasure with this company, stating how they messed up everything up, from the kitchen cabinets being installed upside down, that he had to tell the remodeling company how to install the cabinets, do the wiring, and the plumbing on the job. As well as all the fights he had with the other remodeling company. ************************* even mentioned to our one crew member how he threatened this company that he would give them a bad review and demanded compensation for him not to do so and seemed proud of the fact that he did indeed receive compensation. We at Sandcastle Builders & Development, Inc. take pride in each and every project and our workmanship. We consider this matter closed. Sincerely, *********************** - PresidentReview from Carol G

***** and ***** did a remarkable job on a whole house renovation which needed a lot of TLC. Their patience, suggestions and efforts to keep within budgets were incredible. The entire crew of workers were always a pleasure to see they were super friendly and professional. Extra shout out to the electrician **** and ***** the plumber who spent time making sure everything was perfect. Moving from northern ********* and not knowing anyone for remodel they were a blessing in disguise and everything requested was accomplished plus more. Turning a bedroom closet into a gorgeous walk in shower blew my mind and guest bathroom which needed to be gutted is equally amazing due to the tile installers who have a lot of talent.***** put in a lot of time and effort making sure that everything purchased was of best quality and still affordable to complete the look to make you happy. I can't stress enough how much they meant to me and how I enjoyed working with them.Review from Wendi W.
