If I could give zero stars, I would. *** isn't just incompetent they're predatory. Their business practices are rooted in deception, negligence, and a complete lack of accountability. On April 19, I called ABC to repair an AC unit that wasn't blowing cold air. The first ********** misdiagnosed the issue, claiming the motor and fan needed replacement. On April 23, he showed up with the wrong parts and had to return the next day when I wasn't home. He marked the job as complete and working, even though he didn't test the unit. It was still ********* April 28, the temperature inside my home reached 80 degrees my six-month-old daughter was inside and I made an emergency call. A second ********** came, found the original diagnosis was wrong, and attempted a proper fix. During the process, the compressor and hard start unit exploded, completely destroying the system. He promised a refund for the botched work and said a customer service manager would call. Instead, I got a call from a sales consultant trying to sell me a $10,000 replacement unit like a vulture swooping in after the damage was done. Despite repeated follow-ups, countless calls, and multiple promises, I was ultimately told that my refund request was denied. No explanation. No apology.**** so-called Worry Free Guarantee is a lie. They don't fix problems they create them. They don't take responsibility they deflect, ignore, and upsell. This company left my family in unsafe conditions, destroyed my AC, and tried to profit off the wreckage. Stay far away.ABC Plumbing Sewer Heating Cooling Electric

Dear Mr. ******************** you for bringing your concerns to our attention. We take all customer feedback seriously and are committed to resolving any issues that may arise with our service. First and foremost, we sincerely apologize for the frustration and inconvenience this situation has caused, especially given the circumstances. We understand how critical functioning air conditioning is, and we regret that our service did not meet the high standards we set for ourselves and our customers expectations.
After reviewing your account and speaking with the technicians involved, it is clear that the initial diagnosis and follow-up service fell short. It is unacceptable that the unit was marked as repaired and working without proper verification when clearly it was not.
Regarding your refund the situation should have been escalated to management immediately, and your refund request should have been handled with greater urgency and transparency. In this situation we clearly fell short and not up to the level we strive to maintain.
We regret that your experience did not reflect the level of service we strive to provide. Your credit has been submitted and processed and you will receive your full refund. Please call me directly should you require any additional assistance or service. Thank you and have a wonderful day.Review fromSue W

1 starCalled our local heating plumbing company for a problem with generator. Was told it would be $***** for them to come out. Our local company did not come but an abc *** showed up. The first thing he said was it will be $369.00 to diagnose your generator problem? Wait, What? We were just told $*****? He opened lid on whole house gen. Tried to start it several times by pressing some buttons. As he pressed buttons he saw a leaking plug. (Low pressure oil sensor). He said I will have trouble finding that part! So my husband said I will find the part. The *** said **** my husband ran to local hardware got the part and came back. As my husband arrived back w/part a *** from first company we called arrived as well. We handed over the part we got and paid for and the second *** changed a couple of wires on the part and changed it out (10 min to change out the part)We fully expected to pay for the repair of the generator BUT please tell me how it went from a $***** service call to a $369.00 Diagnosis fee without even opening the lid of the generator? And *** could not supply the part to fix it? This was some type of ****************** first calling they said ***** to come out and if we do the repair we will waive the $***** fee. Tell me how the abc *** could be charging a diagnostic fee? I understand a repair fee but he was very specific about this Diagnostic fee. And the part changed was right front and center when opening front of gen. Second *** who showed up and did the work (while abc *** watched) said this repair should be part of the $***** fee but since the abc *** showed up I cant do anything. 1 starOur 20-year-old Water Heater cracked. We called ABC plumbing. They came and had a new water heater installed in 4 hours. Prior going to bed, we discovered a flooded basement. Water was pouring out of one of the pipes. Also, the unit was very unstable. It was a $3,000 job and we already had a flood and an unstable unit. Technician came out within 45 minutes. He tightened the valves. The technician, to fix the wobble, took a 2-inch pipe, bent it and shimmied the unit. A quality specialist verified the unit integrity has not been compromised. The next morning, instead of finding water, we smelled gas in our basement. We contacted ABC Plumbing. Two hours later, no technician. My wife was 6 months pregnant. We werent taking chance waiting for ***. We called the fire department. 2 hours later, two technicians from *** arrived and discovered a gas leak from one of the pipes. They quickly shut everything off, took the pipes apart, and fixed the issue. Both technicians were also surprised customer satisfaction has not contacted us. Between the unexpected water leak and then the gas leak we narrowly missed a more serious issue. We spoke with Customer Experience, which took some time to establish contact, the first thing they asked was, Well, what was damaged in the basement? There was no empathy for our experience. We offered to pay for the unit only. The representative would not offer any discount. After discussing the issues, he said he would contact a plumbing manager and call back within two hours. Two DAYS later and still no call. When he did call, he would offer was $200 off. He stated, Offering money wont change the situation. He wouldn't even cancel our membership, until we paid 6 months, then we can cancel it. The *** representative did say, We aren't the cheapest. ********** would have been $1,000 cheaper. We have no faith in the unit, but wanted nothing more to do with ABC plumbing. We didn't appreciate how the company addressed our issues.Review fromSharon W

Complaint against ABC Plumbing Arlington Heights, Il. regarding unjustifiable, extreme work done and proposed 1/21/25. Kitchen sink would not drain. Plunged it, that didn't work then a pipe started leaking under sink. Looked up Best Pick Reports for a referral, called ABC Plumbing. Plumber Andy came looked at pipes, took pictures and said pipe going down basement was frozen. He gave 3 options. I- replace garbage disposal, fix pipe under sink, break out wall behind cabinet (which he would not repair). remove dishwasher to follow frozen pipe down to basement. Cost $6388 I said there was nothing wrong with the disposal. Why replace it? Then he said option 2. do everything except disposal $4482. I refused and he said option 3 just fix pipes under sink and rod out frozen pipe. I agreed. He worked hours when I asked how it was going he said he couldn't rod out pipe because he just got sludge and would have to come back next day and replace frozen pipe Option 2 $4482. I suggested pouring boiling water down the drain to defrost the pipe . He said he didn't think that would work. and insisted on being paid $2000 for work he did. When he left I put a blow dryer on the frozen pipe and poured boiling water down the sink. Within minutes the drain cleared. PROBLEM SOLVED. I called ABC and told them what I did and not to have him come back. He did come the next day and when told I didn't need him he had me sign a release. I called ABC explained the situation and wanted to talk to his manager. was told he would call me. He did not. I called again and was told that Andy did what he thought was necessary. Nothing they would do. CASE CLOSED. I called another plumber who saw the pictures and agreed that what was done was unconscionable. The leaking pipe could have been replaced and attached to the other pipes and should not have cost more than $500. PS Andy also recommended installing a water softener. I am an 87 year old woman and resent being scammed in my home.ABC Plumbing Sewer Heating Cooling Electric

I called a company called ABC Heating ******************************************** The job given to *** was to do a "Water Heater ************** plus change a leaky valve". The first thing that the tech named **** did was to take my credit card, charged me $1,378.42. He then told me that he didn't have the parts in his truck to do the job, and left within 5 minutes. Remember I'm out $1,378.42, because the tech left without doing the job. Hours later another tech named ******** S came and did a GREAT JOB with the Water Heater ************* plus valve change). Then ******** looked through her RATE book & charged $799.95. I sent an email to ****** (President of ABC Plumbing), for help with this "DOUBLE BILLING" issue and he assigned ****** to assist with my billing issue. ****** sent an email back recently, stating that the 1st Tech who walked in (without doing the job) and that he was a SALESMAN. And his job was to sell the job. So, when **** charged my $1,378.42 as a salesman (charged me and left in 5 minutes), why did I get the 2nd bill for $799.55) from tech (who came a few hours later & did a great job). So, I PAID A TOTAL OF $2,177.97 FOR A ROUTINE 90-minute Water Heater ************* plus valve change, when you add the $1,378.42 charge by Salesman **** plus $799.55 by another Tech (******** S), a few hours later, who actually did the job. Had a new bathroom vent installed on Saturday, want working Sunday, technician came out and said it was installed incorrectly. Was supposed to be first call on Wednesday to fix because it's a full dry wall repair and reinstall and was put back on the flex schedule (another day down the crapper and still now working fan). Pics of old fan and new fan. How is this work acceptable? Oh and this is how they treat members that pay for the monthly subscription service? ******* pictures if I could. Even someone that didn't know what they were looking at would know it didn't look right.ABC Plumbing Sewer Heating Cooling Electric

Called because a pipe was leaking by my water heater. Person arrived around 8:30 AM the next day. Bottom line.....need new water heater according to the plumber/salesman. Cost? $3,900.00 if you join something. Got the information from my wife and son who were at home at the time. Because I know nothing about plumbing, HVAC, etc. how can I argue? Go ahead with the work. Then get calls that plumber/salesman said something about sink in bathroom and sink in kitchen. I didn't call about those things. I called about my water heater, why are you inspecting other things, I want my water heater fixed. Here you have some numbers....I looked up the tank that was installed (cost: $938.64). Looked up the expansion tank that was installed (cost: $38.49), if I add tax to that it comes to about $1,094.39. We can just round that to $1,100.00. The new pipes installed, I'll be nice and round that off to about $900.00 (that's generous). So we have $2,000.00. Plumber/salesman was there for approximately 5 hours. Guess what that breaks down to? $380.00 per hour. WHAT!!!!!???? Oh and let's not forget the tax on $3,900.00 which brought it to about $4.013.00. SHOP AROUND!!!!!!!!!!!!!! From what I can see and with my less than knowledgeable eyes, the job was complete, clean and things are working. I will get other estimates next time. Oh, yeah and the receipt is not itemized AT ALL.ABC Plumbing Sewer Heating Cooling Electric

Dear Mr. ************ you for sharing your experience. We take all customer feedback seriously.Regarding the pricing, these costs include, but are not limited to, parts, labor, guarantees, craftsmanship and industry leading warranties as well as 24 hour service 7 days a week.We are a flat rate company and have been for over 70 years. Being a flat rate company there would be no itemization as all work and warranties are included in that flat rate price. The cost is presented to the customer and is either accepted or declined. If the work should require any additional time on the job the customer would not be charged any additional money. If you would like to discuss this further, or in more detail, please reach out to the ******************************* Thank you and have a wonderful day.Review fromMichelle W

This company is a scam. They charged close to $4,000 for a burst pipe. They wouldn't provide any scope of work justifying this cost or any detail. Insurance as well as contractor doing repairs both agreed that I was scammed/overcharged. No one, after countless phone calls, can provide any detail for me justifying this. Spoke to two other plumbing companies just for a piece of mind who both agreed they wouldn't charge that. Look up the thousands of yelp reviews... seems like a common issue. Terrible that they take advantage of people over and over and have zero accountability. Customer Experience did an investigation and again, couldn't provide me any detail or explanation as to why or how this price came about. A local competitor came out as a courtesy and quoted us $850. *** charged close to $3,800! His investigation was incomplete as I was told that I would be reimbursed for a portion of my bill which was told to me by the plumber *****, who worked on our home. ***** himself said the pricing is higher than most competitors and admitted to charging high. After he talked to *****, he said ***** never promised me that. So after a he said she said debate, his resolution was sorry, cant help you. After sharing my story with many people, seems like a common issue across the board. Check out all the yelp reviews and ask around. No one has anything good to say. Still waiting on an explanation/justification of cost no detailed billing statement to be found. I've asked 3 different people.. still waiting and no reply.ABC Plumbing Sewer Heating Cooling Electric

*** came out to look at my furnace after it stopped working last week (mid January)After inspection, I was told that our furnace was no longer safe because the inside was rusted and starting to crack and the reason it wasn't kicking on was because of the safety switch inside. The entire unit had to be replaced Initially I was told it would be around $10,000. I was a little surprised at how high the cost was (I live in a small 1 bedroom condo) but the repair man told me he could possibly get it cheaper if he called the distributor personally. When he got off the phone he told me the cost was now $14,000.When I told him I couldn't afford to pay $14,000, he suggested that he could repair the furnace temporarily for $500 but it wasn't up to code and should only be run at about ********************************************************* if I could hold out until late March or April, they would be able to sell me a furnace for 7 or $8,000.This all seemed shady to me but not having any idea what to do in bad situation, I reluctantly let him fix the furnace because I wasn't sure how long I would be without heat. I never turned the furnace back on that night after he left because I wasn't sure if it could be a fire hazard or leaking gas. I've called ABC customer service several times over the last week and my experience has been equally as bad there. Each time being told that all of their managers or anyone who might be able to help was currently in meetings or not in the office and with a promise of a call back that still hasn't come. I'm not sure if *** will ever resolve this with me, but if you have the unfortunate experience of having your furnace break down in the middle of the winter, Id call someone besides ABC. Make a few phone calls or ****** your options, I had a competitor come put a furnace in the next day for $8,000 with no hassle at ********** only made an already very stressful situation much worse and more stressful and no one there seems to care much.ABC Plumbing Sewer Heating Cooling Electric

On Dec 16, 2024, I secured the services of ABC Plumbing (************************************************************************.) regarding a small leak from the pressure relief valve on my hot water heater. My husband was in *******, so I called for service and worked with the technician. I was told by the technician that the pressure relief valve needed to be ***laced. He did not have the part in his truck - but drove to the local hardware store to purchase the valve. He ***laced the small relief vale (which took less than one hour - much of which was spent in him trying to sell me a maintenance contract). The bill came to $796.50 but being totally unaware of the costs associated for such work, I paid the amount due in full. I received an email copy of the bill which did not indicate any details - only the cost of $796.50.The next day I spoke with several neighbors about this charge and was told that they had paid around $200 for the same ***air. I also got quotes from plumbing competitors which also quoted similar $200 ***air charges. Frustrated I went to the local hardware store (where the technician purchased the valve) and saw that this hardware store charges $20 for the valve. I called ABC Plumbing and spoke with their customer experience **** he told me he would investigate. I was told that *** pricing is by the "job" - not the hour. (I should have asked for the hour pricing, since I was actually charged $776.50 per hour. The best the customer experience *** could do was to offer me a $50 credit and a $50 coupon to be used for future ABC work. In review I could have purchased a totally new hot water heater for the price I paid for this simple ***air. (I watched the technician ***lace the valve -- easily done) ************ is a SCAM and totally overpriced the job that was done. They take advantage of customers with outlandish ***air pricing. How can consumers be protected from businesses like ***.ABC Plumbing Sewer Heating Cooling Electric

Dear Ms. ******************** you for taking the time to provide your feedback. We sincerely apologize for any frustration caused during your recent service experience. We understand how important it is for our customers to feel confident in the services they receive.
As a flat-rate company, our pricing is all-inclusive, meaning that the cost covers both labor and materials, with no additional charges added during or after the service. For this reason, we do not provide an itemized breakdown of individual parts or labor. We do, however, ensure that our pricing is fair and transparent, and were always happy to answer any questions about our rates and services upfront. In this case you spoke with a Customer Experience Specialist and this information was provided to you at that time.
We understand that this policy may differ from what youve encountered with other service providers, and we apologize if this caused any confusion. Have a wonderful day.
Sincerely,
The Customer Experience Department
