      On March 29, 2021 I ordered two small pieces of furniture (a small desk and a small TV stand) from Countryside Amish Furniture. I paid half down (roughly $1300) and paid $150 extra for it to be delivered to my home. The invoice indicated that the furniture would be ready in 16-20 weeks. I followed up on June 24 (week 13) and was told that “your order is currently scheduled to reach the staining/finishing stage the second half of October. This stage typically takes 2-3 weeks before completion and being ready to schedule a delivery.” (This 2-3 week business will be a recurring theme.) I decided to be patient. On October 28 I contacted Countryside again and was told that “We heard back from the shop, and your furniture is built and will be reaching the staining/finishing stage the first of next week. This stage typically takes 2-3 weeks before completion and being ready to schedule a delivery.” I followed up again on November 12 and 15 and was told that “your furniture reached the staining/finishing stage the first of November as scheduled on October 28th. This stage takes 2-3 weeks before completion before being ready to schedule a delivery.” On November 26, 29, and 30 I contacted Countryside to try and get a status. Again, I was informed that “Your order is currently in the staining and finishing phase and on track to be completed in 2-3 weeks.” Currently we are in week 36 since I ordered the furniture. Even Countryside’s website says they estimate 26-36 weeks for completion of new furniture orders. At this point, I think the 2-3 week excuse is just a bunch of baloney and my patience has run out. I would like BBB to contact Countryside to expedite matters and get my furniture delivered promptly, by December 15. I have numerous emails with all of this information which I would be happy to share.

      The items were delivered last Saturday. She was upset because she was afraid she would not get the items before Christmas. She would've whether she filed the complaint or not.

      I am rejecting this response because:

      1. I NEVER said, on the phone or in writing, that I wanted my furniture delivered before Christmas. I did ask, in early November, whether I would receive my furniture before Thanksgiving, and they said no, it would be after Thanksgiving. When I contacted then 3 times after Thanksgiving, they responded on December 1 that it would be yet another 2-3 week wait. 

       

      2. Their last response on December 1 reiterated that it would be 2-3 weeks before my furniture was ready to ship. Note that was the third time this fall they said it would be 2-3 weeks later.

       

      3. I did receive my furniture on Saturday, December 11. Note that the shipper called me on Monday, December 6 to arrange the shipping date. It appears to me that it was only after I filed my BBB complaint that the company suddenly expedited shipping. Otherwise it would’ve been 2-3 weeks after December 1, as they said.

       

      4. As I now have my furniture after a 36 week wait, I want nothing else to do with this company and their poor business practices.
