I sent a $300 check as a deposit to reserve a Collie puppy from *********************** of Valjaron Collies. I told ****** exactly what we were looking for, a smooth coated, tri-color male puppy. She assured me we would likely be able to get the specific dog we wanted because the sire was the exact dog we were looking for. She also said if our desired puppy was not in the litter, she would refund the deposit. As it turned out the puppy we wanted was not in the litter. She allowed me about two weeks to decide if I would consider a different puppy from the litter. She offered a female with the right color but not the right coat or a male with the right coat but the wrong color; in fact a color I would never choose. Neither one was what we wanted so I asked her to return my deposit. She ignored my request and began to tell me about a female dog who was one of hers that she sold to a breeder in ********. She said per her agreement with the new owner she will have first pick of the litter. When I asked additional questions I found out that the dog was not even pregnant yet! We would likely have to wait months to see if that potential litter would include the dog we wanted. Again I asked for her to return my deposit. I told her once the pregnancy was confirmed I would send the deposit back to her. Again she ignored my request. She then said I could wait until she bred again in a year but added she was not breeding smooth Collies only rough coated. She would not be breeding smooths for almost two years! We are not breeders who are satisfied to wait for months or years for the perfect show quality dog. We are simply a family who lost their beloved Collie and are finally ready for another one. Since we waited years we agreed to get only what we want, and we want a smooth, tri color male pup. At this point all we want is our deposit back and to warn potential buyers about the shady business practices of ***********************. If needed, have all the text messages between us.
