Brought my boat in to be fixed. They had it for 2 months. I called over 10 times in this period to ask about what was going on, everytime I was told I would get a call back never got a call back until it was done. Bill was $900 put boat on lake died and wouldn't start in first 5 mins. Had to get towed in by same business, was told by owner that I wouldn't be charged for tow and they would make it right, they hadnt cashed my check at this point. Come back and get my boat they told me some switch had been set and nothing wrong with my boat, charged me for tow bill because they said it wasn't a mechanical issue. Put boat on water very next day exact same issue happened, bring boat back they tell me I have a problem with my carburetor and if I want it fixed I will be charged (had cashed the $900 check at this point). The boat ran when I brought it to be fixed it up, $900 later my boat doesn't even run and was told by the mechanic not their problem.Business response

We repaired what we found wrong with his boat when it was dropped off for repair. We lake tested the boat for 30 minutes with no issues before contacting the client for pick-up. I left messages with our mechanic to call client but also imformed him that the mechanic was having some health issues and missed quite a bit of work during this time. customer called us when he took the boat out saying it would not run. We went out on a very windy day and recovered him and his boat, which took over 2 hours. We charged him $100.00 for the tow which should have been $250.00 plus fuel costs. i told him if it was bvecause of something we did or worked on I would help out with the bill. We found that the vent on the fuel tank was closed and the safety switch did not have the mandatory lanyard on it and it would not start. We got it to start right up with no problem and took it out to lake test it yet again and had no issues with another 30 minute test. He brought it back and said fuel was leaking out of one of the carburetors. We did not service the carburetors, and the customer had previously told us that when he bought the boat the previuos owner had just had *****'s in Marion IL service the carburetors.The customer actually picked up the boat in *****'s parking lot from being serviced there. We told the customer to talk to them since they had just worked on them they should stand behind their work. We offered to fix the problem but not for free since it was not something we worked on. We replaced the water pump,trigger ****.,carb coupling ****.etc..
