I called and cancelled my membership in March or April 2020. It was during Covid, so the club was closed and I was instructed not to come in and it would be cancelled. I did not pay attention to my bank account, therefore, did not notice that Planet Fitness continued to take out $20 a month. When I did notice it I called and went in to Planet Fitness and spoke to the manager who said they would see about getting my money back that had been taken out of my account for 3 years. They filled out paperwork to cancel my membership at that time. Planet Fitness continued to take money out of my account until I called my bank and told them to block any further payments to Planet Fitness. I received several messages from Planet Fitness that they were attempting to take money out of my account and there was a problem. In the meantime, I had called and spoke with a manager again who told me that he would see about getting my money back and would call me and never called back. I called several times only to be told the manager was out. I called Planet Fitness headquarters every week for 5 weeks and was told that a manager, CEO, *** would be calling me in a few days. No one ever called. This is where I am at now - filing a complaint with the bbb. Hoping you can help.Initial Complaint

I paid for a membership to this health club and signed up online. I have never been into the facility and have been unable to take advantage of the membership. I have paid my monthly dues for 3 years now! I am simply asking to cancel my membership, and the club makes no provision to do this online or over the phone. They require you to come into the facility to cancel a membership. I find this strange since they do not require the same thing to sign up for a membership! I just want to cancel my membership and avoid future charges, without the need to come into their facility.Business response

We will cancel this persons membership based on the letter you sent us.
However, when members sign up with us it clearly states that the only way to cancel membership is via sending a letter or coming in person to cancel.
We cannot cancel over the telephone as we have no proof that the person who they say they are.

This business knowingly placed fraudulent information on my credit report after illegally attempting to charge my account after they assured me my account was to be cancelled. Most likely going to have to get police involved as this has been going on for over six months.
