A few weeks ago, while being in *********** to take care of family matters, my partner and I visited Jackson Produce and purchased several items of fresh produce and canned fruit. The company's url is https://jacksonsproduce.com/ While checking out we entered a raffle the company was running, each completing a raffle ticket. This occurred on Friday, August 4, 2023. On this past Saturday, August 12, 2023, at 4:40 PM, I got a call on my cell number, to informed me that my partner Eric, had won first prize. I gathered this was a good collection of meat. This call was from the owner of Jackson Produce, Mike. I informed him that Eric was not at home right now. He asked that I give Eric the message and to have Eric call him to arrange for pickup. Eric was not able to call on Sunday because of his needing to address issues surrounding his great aunt who is 82, in declining health and had stopped eating. Additionally, we assumed that they would not be open on that Sunday, as they were closing for the season. Then, on Monday, the 14th at 9 AM, I got a text message informing me that, "Since i never heard back from you, I drew another name." I texted back stating that I felt it was unfortunate that he could not have given Eric a little time. It was less than two days before he decided to draw another name. I also shared that I thought he should have been a bit more patient with things for his long term customers, like Eric and his family have been. I then wished him to have a good fall and winter. I want to raise the concern that such a raffle should be conducted more fairly, giving winners more time to reply. It leaves the impression that the raffle was not truly open and honest; although I sincerely feel that there were no such malicious intentions or games. I do hope that Mike at Jackson Produce learned from my experience and from my sharing my perceptions as a customer.
