On July 25, 2022, I logged into my Bare Minerals account to order makeup. When I went to check out, it would not take my coupon code so I looked up the contact number for them and called it to ask why it would not accept my code. The man I spoke with told me their website was having issues so he would take my order over the phone. I got his name. He offered me a bigger discount due to the inconvenience. He seemed knowledgeable about the products. I would not normally give my debit card information over the phone; however, I have never had an issue with Bare Minerals. He gave me a confirmation number. He told me I would get my order in 7 days. When I had not received it, I checked my bank account to see if they took the payment out of my account and they had not. I contacted Bare Minerals, and they did not have any record of my transaction or my conversation with this man and they told me the confirmation number the man gave me was not a confirmation number sequence they use. On 08/03/22 I checked my bank account again and there was a pending transaction for the exact amount of my order, but it was not from Bare Minerals, it was from the company I listed above and a phone number. I called the phone number and the person who answered told me it was for some financial services company I never heard of and did not order anything from. I asked him how this could have happened, and he told me he could not give me any information about it. I told him this was fraudulent and that I would be reporting the company. He told me it would never happen again, and he would cancel "my account", but I did not set up an account. I asked him how they got my information, and he told me he could not give me that information. I contacted my bank and cancelled the debit card I used to pay for my order from Bare Minerals (who I was supposed to be talking to) and they are investigating things on their end. I am very concerned about how this happened. This is scary.Business response
