I am trying to print on a difficult substrate known as Nylon 6/6. I had reached out to many ink manufacturers to see if they had any inks that would adhere well with the substrate. All told me they did not. I reached out to ITW Trans Tech back in March of this year, to see if they had any inks that would adhere with the substrate. They suggested I send some parts to them for testing. I sent them parts on April 10 for them to test (tracking no. ************). I also included a letter explaining the inks and methods I had tried and failed with to print on the parts. They reached out last week claiming that they had an ink that would work on the substrate. I inquired as to whether they had printed the part that I sent and ******* assured me they had and that the ink would work. I took him at his word, and ordered the necessary ink and solvent to be able to print on the component. Yesterday I printed all 600 parts assuming that they had tested the ink on the part. I then baked the part to 300F for 30 minutes, a little hotter and longer than that recommended as I wanted to be sure the ink had fully cured. When I removed them from the oven and let them cool, to my surprise the ink flaked off almost immediately. I couldn't believe it, I called ITW and explained the issue. I spoke with ******* and asked whether they had test printed the products I sent - To my surprise, he told me they had not! Then he said that he would see if they could test print with the ink to figure out what was wrong. I asked if it would happen today and he didn't have an answer. I would like a refund for the ink they guaranteed me would work as well as compensation for my time printing all these parts relying on their assurances.
