I purchased a car from Advantage auto sales in Champaign in September of last year. I had no issues with them while the office was still in Champaign. The office recently moved to Bloomington and around that time I received a car from a family member who was moving to a different state and couldn't take his car with him. I then made the decision that I would no longer need the car from advantage and I VOLUNTARILY SURRENDERED the vehicle to the Bloomington location with the key. They have listed it as both a voluntary surrender and a repossession. However the car was never repossessed as I gave it back. you can see this in the attached file below when they reported it to my credit. After doing much research I learned that in the state of Illinois a voluntary surrender of a car to any dealership means the car would be resold and the person who returned the car would be dinged once on their credit for the voluntary surrender and on average it dings your credit about 150 points. However I have been dinged on my credit multiple times by them. When I had the car all my payments where made on time. I currently have another loan through my bank to help build my credit along with a credit card I am linked to in order to grow my credit. I am 19 years old and trying to rent a house but in order to do so I need a better credit score. Before this encounter with advantage I had a very good credit score. Therefore I need help to dispute this matter and get my credit score back in a decent range and be done with Advantage Auto Sales. Like I said I have done plenty of research on this and I know what they are doing is wrong. I am still young and I don't want this to ruin my credit. If there is anything you can do to help I would appreciate it.
