On 9/2/23 I brought my Jeep in to this shop because it was certified by Repair pal and recommended by my extended warranty. I needed wheel bearings replaced and I suspected there were other issues. The shop told me after a week that the parts and work was authorized except for $268 in additional labor that I would be responsible for. I agreed and said I would pay the remainder when the vehicle was finished. A few more days later the shop mechanic, ***, called and told me I would have to pay for the car myself and ask my insurance for reimbursement. I told him this was a problem and he was very rude. By 9/13 the car had been finished and held by the shop illegally for a week. I was leaving the state and had no choice but to pay out of pocket. I learned the shop had sent inadequate information to my insurance and they were still waiting for pictures to authorize the work. They paid me half of what I was owed while they tried to get pictures from the shop. 6 months later I am unable to get assistance from the shop. The most the owner would do was suggest I contact the BBB. Furthermore, I just discovered yesterday that Freds Wrigleyville did not even address the wheel bearings. Over $1000 of work that was left undone and has put the work that I did put into the car in jeopardy. I am desperate for help. I cant believe how wrong this shop has done me.

i am confused regarding this complaint.

A job was performed in September of 2022. The job was approved by Assurant. I have a copy of the approval. Customer came to pick up the car. She was leavig town for a few days and said she would pay and would get reimbursed by ********. I asked her if she needed any help from me? She said she would hancle.

I emailed her a copy of the document at the time and asked her to call me with any questions.

Never heard back. Suddenly today, 6 months later I am hearing of this.

Happy to help. I have been complaint free for years

      Complaint: 19930577

I am rejecting this response because:

The claim that is being referenced (********) was rejected by ASSURANT. I have already communicated this. The insurance company closed this complaint because the shop refused to send comprehensive photos. Because of this I was only paid 50 percent of what I was owed.

They had possession of my car almost 2 weeks and I was only supposed to pay $256 out of pocket

Halway through the work I got a call from Ray, the shops mechanic that I needed to pay everything up front. In hindsight I realize he did this because he knew the claim was being rejected

The shop has had 6 moths to send these photos. Furthermore, my insurance company told me it was illegal for them to force me to pay and seek reimbursement after the fact

I have the work orders and the authorization numbers that **** is referring to. They are preliminary work orders that were ultimately denied.

I only patronized this shop because it was a Repail pal certified shop and this garage did not uphold their practices or standards.

A business no matter how spotless of a record should be held accountable when they have made a mistake.

      Sincerely,

      *******************************
