To whom it may concern; The nature of this complaint is to expose the unethical business practices of McLaren Chicago. I am utterly disappointed of what's transpired over the last few weeks with me working out a deal with this dealership. On January 19th, I submitted a credit application for a vehicle that I was interested in and a deal was made on. I was able to qualify for a monthly amount of $1,300, but the individual at the dealership pushed my approval up to $1,500. After a request was made that I wanted to place the deal on hold as I was shopping around, the individual went ballistic stating that they'd be pulling my approval totally back and that I would never again get that deal and approval. This individual went on by telling me that we have nothing else further to talk about and chose to not do business with me anymore. The individual at McLaren Chicago was being hostile, harassing, and antagonistic telling me how I am a *********** of time. This individual confessed that I pushed ".." too far and blocked my approval and will not be able to get approved now anyway with their dealership and that I'm done with McLaren totally. This individual has a very personal problem against me because after sending him a personal email to make things right, I was shut down with 0 resolution. When I went back to do the deal with another McLaren dealership I found, they were unable to get approval from the finance company. Due to the nature and unprofessionalism of McLaren Chicago, they are preventing me from purchasing a vehicle even at a different McLaren dealership. This is illegal, fraudulent, and unacceptable. I understand it's one thing with not wanting to do business with me, but why block me from wanting to purchase a car from a different McLaren dealership? There is no reason to punish me to this high degree. This needs to be exposed and addressed on a corporate level because this is not proper customer service and is poor on all levels and aspects.

Approvals are not from the dealer. Approvals come from the lending institution. The dealer has no bearing on their decision. Customer has already reached out to the lender for further explanation.

I purchased a new car from Mclaren Chicago on Oct 5, 2020. The car was titled as new. Yesterday, I got a call from the dealer asking if I want to purchase extended warranty because my 3 year warranty has expired. I called the dealer, and found out that they triggered the 3 year factory warranty when they received the car in Sept 2019. They said they can not undo the warranty they started prior to selling the car, nor are they willing to pay for an additional year of warranty so that I can have the full 3 years of warranty which was listed as coming with the car. They said because they did a first year annual service, that it makes things even. However annual service is different from the warranty and I negotiated that into the sale because the car was coming up on a year when I purchased it and I didn't want to have the warranty voided for missing a service (nor did I want to pay for it myself). The Mclaren warranty does not cover or include service, but maintaining annual service is a requirement to have a valid warranty. The dealer also said that since the car had more than 300 miles on it, it was no longer new, however it was sold as New (see purchase agreement) and therefore it should come with everything on the sticker unless it was otherwise disclosed. You can see there has been no modifications or disclosures on the documents. All new Mclarens come with a 3 year warranty and roadside assistance. I called Mclaren North America to ask them to help and they said the dealer triggered the warranty and they can not undo that. They also said that this is a common scam that dealers run, and he was not surprised they did this, because it triggers me, the buyer, to buy the extended warranty from them. The dealer, or myself, would have to buy the extended warrant. One year warranty is $3999.00. Per our purchasing agreement, we agreed to have any disputes related this purchased arbitrated by BBB. I have uploaded the purchasing agreement.

I am rejecting this response because: warranty coverage is not the same as annual maintenance/Service. These are two explicitly different concepts. The 3 year factory warranty does not include service in any way.  The window sticker clearly states the car comes with 3 years of factory covered warranty. The purchase agreement clearly states the car is sold new and therefore there is no reason for the cars warranty to be started prior to selling the car to its first owner.  Since the car was sold as new all products related to the car on the window sticker are legally required to be provided.

      Sincerely,
