A few years ago, I went to the doctors office and the staff failed to inform me that the insurance I currently had at the time was not expected my the office. So I faced a 4k bill that is now in collections. I have been trying to contact the office with either paying partial of the bill or getting it out of collections and I have not gotten a response . All Ive gotten as of recent is the collections department trying to scare me with taking me to a court over a five year old bill. I find it very unprofessional of an office not to tell the patient that their insurance isnt accepted and go on with the treatment/tests. If I had known, I would have canceled my appointments.Business response

******************** had multiple dates of service with our office and each time she presented her insurance card. On date of service 4/18/22 she presented her card and her insurance adjudicated the claim. Her performed an insurance adjustment based on what the insurance allowed and the insurance applied the rest of her sevices toward ger deductible, leaving her a balance of $265.04. She had a follow-up appointment on 6/3/22 and was informed of her balance. She paid $25 by **** on 6/2/22 and another payment on 6/3/22 of $25, also by ****. When she came into the office on 6/3/22 she presented the same insurance card. Then on 6/7/22 she came in for a follow-up and also presented the same insurance. I have attached a report that will show our office performed our dur diligence and checked her elgibility on 6/3/22 and 6/7/22 and her insurance was deemed eligible. At some point the patient lost her insurance and when the claims were adjudicated, the claims were denied as being renedered after coverage termination. I cannot say what happened with the patients insurance but she did not have coverage because her insurance had terminated. It was not becasue we did not accept her insurance. We did indeed accept her insurance, as she knew this since she started paying for services that were applied towards her deductible for her 4/18/22 date of service. She however continue to fail to pay this balance off and that too went to collections. I have attached our financial policy of which the patient signed and the insurance card that she presented. This patient is responsible for the services rendered and full balance based on non-payment of the amount placed toward her deductible and non-covered services based on plan termination.Initial Complaint

I am being inaccurately billed by this organization. I have already reported this issue and was assured over the phone last month (April 2023) that this issue would be fixed. However, today (5/22/2023) I received another bill charging me $50 for a no-show for an appointment that I cancelled several times before the 24-hour deadline.I originally had an appointment on 11/30/2022. Weeks before this date, I contacted the organization to reschedule. I spoke with the receptionist over the phone multiple times. We settled on a 12/13/2022 appointment. On 11/28/2022, I received a voice mail asking me to confirm or cancel the 11/30 appointment (even though it was already cancelled). I called back, got voicemail, and left a message reminding them that the appointment was cancelled. When I arrived for my appointment on 12/13/2022, I was told that it was not on the calendar. I showed the receptionist my email confirmation and the doctor made time to see me (thanks to the doctor for this).Months later, I received a bill for a no-show appointment on 11/30/2022, which accused me of not cancelling this appointment within 24 hours. That accusation is false and it is inaccurate to charge me $50 for a no-show that I cancelled well in advance. I am guessing that the scheduler mistakenly cancelled the 12/13/22 appointment and never cancelled the 11/30/22, even though there were multiple notices that I was cancelling the 11/30/22 appointment.I have repeatedly reported this inaccuracy to the Association for Women's Health, yet they continue to send me bills for a $50 no-show charge on 11/30/22. These bills need to stop, and I would appreciate an apology.
