A hole with no exit. awful customer service, IF you can get through. I tried calling in one day TEN times and NEVER reached a human and in fact was disconnected every call. I took this insurance because according to ACA website they covered my medications. It took me over a month of calls to my doctor and writing a letter to Ambetter to get my medications. When I went to discontinue the coverage I could not find the email address to cancel (because it must. be done in writing?), I spoke to a representative who when forced to answer YES or NO, "are you cancelling my coverage?" finally said no. I had to connect with the marketplace myself to do that. What garbage.Review from Morgan W

I've worked with ambetter in my chiropractic clinic for 3 years now, they paid the office claims extremely well so I decided to make big mistakes and enrolled into their health plan this year. It's been 2 months since a special rx was submitted for prior authorization, each time I call they don't have any record of it. My colleague sent an appeal after it was denied. I call and call and the representatives have no record of an appeal on file, but the dang letter is sitting right in front of me on my desk! "What's the appeal number on the letter ma'am? No sorry I don't see any appeal with that claim number. Would you like me start a appeal for you?" NO MAN! JUST FIND THE ONE THAT'S ALREADY BEEN FAXED TO YOU "6 TIMESSSS" Centene corporation owns ambetter.. Centene also manages health plans for prisons across the country. This insurance plan is a nightmare, an absolute joke. Ambetter than this, you are too so run for your life and pick a different insurance carrier!! Save yoself!!Review from Cindy P

I give 0 stars actually. Ambetter has the worst customer service. I called to cancel my plan due to having a new employer and health insurance through them. Trying to cancel the plan plus get a refund for the month of premium paid that coverage was cancelled was a nightmare. Months of calls, escalation, everyone telling me to do something else to get the refund, etc. Then once I did finally get the refund two months later, I started getting calls from their escalation team to help. I needed their help months ago not after the fact. Trying to cancel their now calls is ridiculous too so I'm now blocking those numbers because they wont remove me from their call list. Don't ever sign up for their insurance.Review from John R

I am a retired physician who is very disappointed with Ambetter. CUSTOMER SERVICE: The foreign-based customer service clerks were almost always unable to answer (or even understand) my basic questions, perhaps due to language barriers, or perhaps their responses must follow scripts which only give answers to the most basic of questions. I spent many hours on the website and phone trying to find out specifics of our plan, without success. When the clerk could not comprehend simple questions like "Who are your dental providers near me, since no dental providers are listed in my state on your website?", I asked to talk to their manager, but was told "We have no managers here who can help you. "REWARDS PROGRAM: The rewards program is fraudulent because it fails to give promised rewards in the promised time frame. In our repeated calls we were told month after month "Credits can take up to 6 weeks to appear - call us back if they don't appear" (and of course, they never appeared). The clerk did not understand that a mammogram fulfilled the requirement for breast cancer screening and would not apply points for "breast cancer screening". Once our policy ended, points cannot be redeemed anymore. Nice trick! SHENANIGANS: The call center staff have a trick to avoid bad ratings of their service. The rating system activates when they hang up after your phone call, but when they sense you might give a bad rating, they simply don't hang up. They say "Goodbye" and turn off their microphone, but then sit silently with the hope that you will hang up first. I spent 15 minutes waiting for the clerk to hang up so I could rate her. I even had an exchange with her saying "You can hang up now," to which she turned on the microphone again and said goodbye again, but still never hung up. The website would not let us access our account on 12/31 because "our policy was cancelled" despite the fact that we paid for the whole year.Review from Marcia D

STAY AWAY from this company!!! I can not believe they advertise on national television, they are not good. Low cost but no service! Impossible to reach anyone, doctors are not accessible, not accepting new patients. Very frustrating. I went 1 year have Ambetter withdrawal monthly premium and received no care and no service. I wish I had seen these reviews before I enrolled with Ambetter. Can I register "zero stars?" I had lost my job and my employee coverage and chose this health insurance simply because it seemed affordable at the time and their website indicated my prescriptions would be covered. This was not accurate. Worst decision I have ever made. Amworse of Illlinois.Review from Ray P

ScamBetter, or Amworse? Which sounds more appropriate for the service I've received so far?Most providers do not accept their coverage, and those that do are all too familiar with the issues that arise from them. And personally, I've received plenty of it. Rejected claims, insurance issues causing medicine blockages, and just a massive lack of communication. It seems like it would save you money on paper, at least, until you're charged full-price on service from the doc. Avoid. Until they fix themselves, which might never happen, avoid with all your might.Review from Brian S

Horrible experience / list available providers when you call any doctor or dentist they say theyre not on the plan! **************** dirsntchelp and wont put on manager! Reporting them to states attorney! Filing for cash back with credit card provider!Review from Claire H

Just got on this insurance after months of begging to be on a special enrollment period, and found out that I was lied to about what my insurance applies to, and now I'm in the exact same position I was in when I was underinsured through the Marketplace-- can't get a doctor, can't get an appointment. If you're a poor person in Illinois, don't even bother to to try to get health insurance-- just die of simple treatable maladies like they want you to as you wait interminably for customer service agents to lie to you and give you misinformation, plus hours on hold. I hate this insurance and Marketplace in general.Review from Magun W

I am in the hospital was told by the billing department my insurance was suspended due to non payment but my bill was paid it may have been paid late but it was paid 5/17 and invoice due date was 5/31/2023 which covers me until 6/30/2023. So how was my account suspended I called and was given the run around I am beyond ****** off and mad because I am in so much pain and need my gallbladder removed or stones removed that are causing me so much pain but due to a billing migration error with the new system I can not get the procedure done I will be discharged and re diagnosed and sent home without treatment because insurance company gave out the wrong info Ambetter said turn around for update could take **** days once I spoke with supervisor now only 2-3 business days for turn around I am not happy with Ambetter at all.
