**************** was referred to us by a satisfied customer who has referred several clients to us in the past due to our successful relationship with him. After our normal intake phone conversation with her, she made a decision to move forward with trying to obtain a loan using our services. We emailed her the link to our online application which she filled to generate pre-qualification assessment information. She was informed that we would pull a soft credit report as part of the process and she agreed to that.Unfortunately, the credit report came back with issues that rendered her ineligible for a mortgage loan. We called and reviewed the report with **************** in detail and advised her on what she could do to improve her credit and possibly qualify for a mortgage. **************** then became irate, and demanded we delete all the information we had about her, including her credit report. We explained that we could not delete her application or credit report because that would be illegal, and that we had already mailed her a denial letter. She got more irate and demanded that we delete any emails we had from her, which we immediately did, and informed her it was done. She then demanded we take a screenshot of our email pages to prove her email had been deleted. We explained that we could not do so because it would show details of communication with other customers, which would violate their privacy. We went further to take a screenshot of our trash and sent it to her, showing that there were no emails from her, and the trash was empty.**************** was still not satisfied, and demanded again and again that we delete all of her information, including her credit report. After several unsuccessful minutes of trying to reason with her and to explain why we could not do as she asked, we advised that we would not be able to do what she was demanding, and that we would prefer she seek a mortgage loan elsewhere as we would not be able to continue to work with her. She hung up the phone and we have heard no more from her. It was therefore a huge surprise to find out she had reported our company to the BBB.Proposed resolution: We hope the BBB will be able to communicate to the borrower that we, as a mortgage outfit, can not delete credit information. As the report pulled was only an Equifax soft pull, it does not impact her credit at all. We wish her the best and hope she is able to qualify for a mortgage loan elsewhere. We look forward to working with you.
Sincerely,
