After Riot Fest announced June 13 it was moving its September music festival from ************************* in ******* to **************** in **********, I purchased a Sunday-only general admission ticket on July 17 for $129.99 solely because the event was going to take place in the suburbs for the first time, which is closer to where I live, would be easier and much safer for me to commute to by myself, and would provide nearby parking. After Riot Fest announced August 14 it was moving back to its original location at ************************* in *******, it shared under the *** section in a "We're back" blog post on its website at riotfest.org that "all festival ticket sales are final and non-refundable." However, in the Q&A immediately above that under the same section in the same blog post, it says that ticket holders were given refunds after the first venue change was announced in June. If Riot Fest was gracious enough to offer refunds to ticket holders after the first venue change, due to the extraordinary circumstances, it should honor and extend that offer to all ticket holders after the second venue change under those same circumstances.Initial Complaint

Both my husband and I got COVID a few days before the fest. I reached out to see if I could transfer my tickets or get a refund for them as we don't want to spread COVID to anyone else. They sent me a link that expired for transfers and said that I would need to come in person to pick up the wristbands. This is the dumbest thing I've ever heard of. They should have a place to transfer tickets or send out wristbands ahead of time so people who get sick can get rid of them without worrying they may get others sick. I ended up just eating the $380, but am upset that was my only option. This is poor planning especially since they were oversold for the event.Business response

Hello,
Thank you for reaching out. Though we understand the customer's concern, we would like to reiterate that all Riot Fest tickets purchased via Eventbrite are non-refundable and non-transferable, per the Terms of Purchase clearly stated on riotfest.org as well as all Riot Fest Eventbrite event listings. The 'no refund' policy is stated on the ticket page before purchasing, as well as part of the agreed-upon terms and conditions during the purchase process.
The customer purchased her 'Riot Fest Sunday VIP' tickets on September 4th, 2022. At this time, the messaging available to customers was a clear 'no refund' policy. It was also made clear in the order confirmation webpage and order confirmation email that all non-general admission tickets (VIP, Deluxe, and Ultimate) passes would be available at will-call, at the festival's box office and are available for pick up by the original purchaser. The delivery type was visible on the purchase page.
Additionally, the opportunity to transfer tickets via Lyte was afforded to this customer the same day she requested a refund or transfer. Please note this transfer option was not mandatory for Riot Fest to offer and was made available as a courtesy to patrons who may have been unable to attend. The transfer link the customer received on Sept 14 was valid and working but was disabled the night of Sept 15 by Lyte - a necessary action to ensure the correct information was available to box office attendants the following day (the first day of the event, Sept 16).
Finally, the no refund policy and the will-call policy are clearly stated on Riot Fest's FAQ page and the Eventbrite ticket page prior to purchasing.
This non-refundable purchase was made willingly by the customer in a post-covid social climate where the risk of infection is implied and understood, unfortunately Riot Fest cannot offer refunds due to illness.
Kind regards,
Riot Fest
