my vehicle was towed on August 26, 2025, due to my vehicle's permit not being displayed and fell off the windshield. Which i take accountability for and should have noticed. My vehicle was towed, I picked up my vehicle and paid the fees of $240.70 o August 26, 2024, at 8:46am. as a result of their tow my front bumper was damaged and practically on the floor, I was informed to file a claim with their insurance claim department at ********************************** which was done on 8/26/24, 3:24pm received an email response back on 8/27/24 at 2:03am. stating someone would be reaching out to coordinate repairs in 3-5 business days and I have yet heard back via email and or a call from anyone. I have attempted multiple times reaching back out via email and no response and have attempted to speak to someone who can help from their office, and they just hang up stating this isn't their problem to file a claim. I have missed multiple days of work due to waiting for them to repair my vehicle along with for about 5 months now my vehicle is leaking fluids from the transmission area under the bumper section my parking space has stains of this and I continue to have to have my son add Transmission fluid to ensure the damage isn't worsened. I have had to zip tie my bumper, so it isn't dragged as I drive from and to work. I request that my vehicle is to be repaired as it was prior to the tow and damages cause by this vendor, along with my tow fee to be reimbursed. At this point I would like to repair the vehicle myself at a mechanic and request a sum of ***** along with my $240.70 tow fee to be issued to me to ensure no further wait and lack of professionalism from this vendor is dealt with. I've also called ******** times and they have informed I have to wait till it is my turn to be reach out too as there is a waiting list for repairs. I work in property management and no claim department takes 7 months to respond back and or file a claim, Their contact # is ************.Initial Complaint

Contract Towing uses opaque and deliberately obfuscatory permit policies to steal and hold for ****** cars parked legally in residential lots. I purchased a parking permit for 25 dollars for one car. When I got a new car, I attempted to register it using the parking permit site as directed by my leasing office. However, the process of changing vehicles using this site is unclear and leads to many residents having their vehicles mistakenly towed. When I tried to change my vehicle information rather than purchase a new parking permit, I received a message informing me that all changes are subject to approval and that I would receive a message when my vehicle change request was approved but that I was still subject to tow until such approval. Two months passed without incident, and I was able to park my car in the residential lot freely every night. However, I never received confirmation that my change request was interacted with in any way. Then, after two months of parking in the residential lot, my vehicle was towed with no notice provided by Contract Towing. I had to call my police department to find out where my car had been towed and where it had been towed. When I attempted to resolve the issue with customer service, they lied to me and told me that no requests for change had ever been made using my account. I was told that the only way to obtain a valid parking permit for a new vehicle is to purchase a new pass, meaning that the change vehicle information requests, even if approved, are invalid. **************** was unwilling to help me determine why my permit change request was not approved. This business is exploitative and unethical, and relies on uninformed residents who cannot dispute mistaken towings.Initial Complaint

In January and February my car has been towed for an expired pass. This is because they stopped sending expiration notifications, without letting customers know. After I went to retrieve my car last night, they were only taking cash and exact change, which was even more frustrating. I feel that this is because they no longer want disputed claims (because they are clearly wrongfully towing). Anyways, customers just like me have been relying on these notifications to renew our parking passes for months. All of a sudden they stop with no warning. I am down $500 due to this lack of notification. There is no reason I should have my car towed TWICE because THEY lack in notifying customers of this system switch. I want my money back, since they assumed the risk of having unpaid parking passes by neglecting to let their customers know that they were no longer sending notifications out prior to expiration dates.Business Response

Dear ******* *********,
Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. We appreciate the opportunity to clarify the situation of an expired parking permit.
Our records indicate that you were issued a parking permit that had a clear expiration date, and it was the permit holders responsibility to renew it before expiration. While we strive to provide excellent customer service, including courtesy reminders where possible, the responsibility for tracking expiration dates ultimately falls on the permit holder.
The vehicle was towed in accordance with our communitys parking policies. We understand that this may have been an inconvenience, and we regret any frustration this caused. However, we must enforce parking regulations consistently to ensure fairness for all residents and permit holders.
If you need assistance with future permit renewals, please let us know how we can assist.
Best regards,

On 2/14 between 2:30pm-3:15pm I went to pick up my vehicle that was wrongfully towed. I live in *** and for street parking we need a parking pass. My parking pass was on near the rear view mirror. While it was not hanging all the way down it was on there. When I arrive, I ask to see the pictures they took before paying the $240 fee. Right off the bat they are so rude. They said they cant show me and I would need an attorney. She asks for ID and payment, I didnt have my credit card and I mention to my boyfriend I dont think I brought it and a lady says I dont know why people dont carry their stuff with them thinking I was talking about my ID. When I pay I go out to my car and automatically take pictures before even entering or getting too close to the car, my parking permit is literally there and CAN be seen. I turn back around and go into the office, I try to show them the picture of the car and the parking pass, they do not care to see or hear it, they automatically state that I went in my car and placed it there. Mind you they have cameras everywhere and I KNEW they would pull that card hence I never even opened the door or touched my car. They make no effort to see my evidence or offer any help or contact information. They start yelling, that I need to get my car or they will close the gates. They even said they would call the police which we shouldve, because my pass was where it should have been. I have never came across such rude manipulative people. This was predatory towing.Initial Complaint

Contract Tow is a rouge towing company. I live at ******************* located in ******* which is managed by ******************************. These tow trucks drivers are given free reign to tow cars. I am a resident and I have had my vehicle towed 8 times. If those eight times, the *** company had to bring my vehicle back. This took about two hours and it was a huge inconvenience. Mind you, I have paid to park with a valid parking sticker and the car was still towed. I even had a rental car of which I drove to the front of the building and ran up stairs to retrieve some work items. I wasn't upstairs 10 minutes before they came and towed my vehicle. A rental vehicle at that. At the time I was on my way to work and over night shift. I called the tow company to bring my car back and they wouldn't I had to call y employer and tell them that I would be late due to the car being towed. I took an **** to the tow pound to retrieve my car because my work equipment was still inside the car and the hazards were flashing and the strobe light was on. They claim they take pictures. I have never seen one picture of the reason why I was towed. The are crooks . There was a 5 day span of which I didn't even know my car was towed due to me being out of town. Let me make this clear. I am a resident who paid to park in the lot and still get towed.Business Response

Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. We understand the frustration that being towed can cause, and we take such matters seriously.
Upon reviewing the situation, we found that the vehicle in question was towed after multiple violations of posted parking regulations. Our company follows strict guidelines with proper signage and enforcement protocols. In this case, the vehicle was towed due to the following infractions:
No parking zones, expired license plates, no parking permits, not providing a rental agreement to secure your vehicle to park, and taking up two parking spaces.
As a towing service provider, we act only when a clear violation occurs. We encourage all drivers to carefully review posted parking rules to avoid future issues.
We value feedback and remain committed to providing professional services to our community. Thank you again for your attention to this matter.

I am rejecting this response because: There are a plethora of excuses given and questionable business practices. There is a lack of communication and alot of ambiguity between management and employees of this company. I definitely feel like they take advatage of the residents of this aparmtent complex. It's sort of a means to make them money regardless of the situation. For example, the Mitsubushi was towed when I ran upstairs for 5 minutes to retrieve a few items before I went to work. When I returned from my apartment i tried to hail the tow truck dow nto stop because I had to be on-duty at my job in an hour. I called the tow company and asked them to summons the river to bring the vehicle back. They would not bring the vehicle back. I was embarresed to call my employer and let them know that I would be late due to my vehcile being towed. I had to get into an **** and go to the tow facility and retreive the vehicle and head to work. This seems to be some sort of game. When I arrived at the towing facility, I am told that the driver took pictures. I asked to see them and was told I could not view the pictures. My question is where are the pictures. In my opinion, there are not any pictures but alot of lies being told. I have included another rental car I had due to my other vehcile being in the repair shop. I sent the agreement to the towing company and extended the agreement with them and my car was still towed. The tow compay brought my car back two hours later which was an inconvience. Attached is the proof. I would like all my monies refunded. Your explanation hold not merit.

I am rejecting this response because:I have photos of other vehicles that are supposedly in violation but where never towed. Those pictures will be sent in a seperate email and attached to the claim. I believe I was a target of the towing company. Contract towing claims to have pictures of the violations before they tow an automobile. I have asked to see those photos and have yet to see them. They are not honest. It's like a game of some sort because they have free will to come into a parking lot and take your automobile. As far as an expired registration sticker, I never knew the tow truck driver had police power or authority over an invalid or valid plate sticker. The truth to the matter is, they can't produce any photos. They are given free reign to make money off the residents of this apartment housing complex. I felt like I was a target of the towing company. Which inconvenienced me due to making it to where I needed to go on time or my medication is left in the automobile and can't take it. Again, these photos will be attached in a separate email with my claim number included.

Was towed on December 9th 2024 at 3:30am near ********************************** as a guest for a resident at ********************************************, *********************************, for the reason of "parked on grass". There is no curb at all, the terrain is wavy up and down the street between the pavement and grass that blends together over the years because this street is more like a big ally between apartment builds on one side and the backyards of the next street over houses that's fenced off on the other. I'm on the pavement, just a little of mostly dirt and some grass but it's not grass because it's on top of the pavement. Right? Also, there's no signs to not park on grass. There was a memo put up about parking on the grass because people where parking vertically to the horizontal pavement grass blended line by the ********************************* in the building. Another thing, *********************************, says they don't own that street, they are going off the rules of what the tow company says. So, that memo doesn't count, right? There for there must be signs up stating to not park on grass. This is a slim company that is praying on people living and visiting there in my opinion.Business Response

Dear ****** *****,
We appreciate the opportunity to address this matter and provide clarity regarding the incident.
On 12/9/24, a vehicle owned by the complainant was towed after it was found parked on the grass. This action was taken in accordance with parking rules which clearly prohibits parking on grassy areas to preserve the property and maintain safety.
While we understand the complainants assertion that a memo was distributed rather than a physical sign being posted, the policy was clearly communicated to all relevant parties. A memo, whether physical or digital, serves as an official notice, and it is the responsibility of recipients to comply with stated property rules.
Furthermore, signage at the property clearly indicates that unauthorized or improperly parked vehicles are subject to towing. This includes vehicles parked in non-designated areas, such as grassy spaces.
Our actions in this case were consistent with our agreement with the property management and in compliance with local regulations. As such, the tow was justified, and the associated charges are valid.
We strive to ensure clear communication and fair enforcement of property rules and are willing to address any concerns within reason. However, we stand by our position that the complainants vehicle was in violation of parking policies.
Thank you for your understanding and for allowing us the opportunity to clarify this matter.

I was at the laundromat washing clothes and the driver of tow truck was towing my vehicle when I ask him why is he taking my truck if I can park right here he continues to say I can't park there I'm blocking the handicap when I was not and told him I can park here and even the ladies who work in the laundromat try to tell the driver it's fine I can park there the male who tow my truck didn't care to listen so I told him he not taking my truck til a police officer comes to the lot and I had my doors open and my sister and sister in law were on the sides telling him he can't take my truck cuz there no sign I couldn't park there the driver proceeded to start his truck and drive while we were on the doors and drove more faster when he seen we weren't letting him take my truck driving down kedzie with us holding the doors not caring if we were to get hurt or dragged under his tires. Police arrived after he left and even told me that they didn't see why I couldn't be park there and call the company and driver and ask them why would they take my truck if there no visible sign I couldn't be park where I was at and that he could've hurt ones of us driving and that if we told him we was calling the cops that they said he wasn't supposed to proceed to drive with us holding the door that he had to wait til they arrived. I feel like the company has employees that are very disrespectful and disgusting to have that happen and I know I'm not wrong if the cops said themselves I was allow to park where I was at. And the sign that I sent out clearly states that you'll be towed if you're park and not doing business in the lot and clearly I was washing clothes so again why am I paying for my vehicle from being towed when I'm a customer washing at the same location I've been coming to for the past 15 years it's ridiculous that's something like this can happen.Business Response

Dear ******* ********,
Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. We take all complaints seriously and strive to ensure fair and lawful handling of all incidents. Below is our response to the concerns raised:
According to our records and local regulations, vehicles blocking designated handicapped spaces are subject to immediate towing to ensure accessibility compliance. Our team followed the procedure as mandated by Illinois to address the parking violation.
We are deeply concerned by any claims of physical altercation and do not condone such behavior under any circumstances. However, based on your statement that the police declined to proceed with filing charges, it appears there may have been insufficient evidence to substantiate the claim.
Our goal is to address your concerns transparently and fairly. If you believe there has been an error or misconduct, please provide further details or documentation, and we will investigate the matter thoroughly.
We value the opportunity to resolve this issue and ensure your concerns are addressed promptly.

My vehicle was illegally towed from my residence, vehicle had a clearly displayed residential parking pass. "Contract towing" was stating that, that portion of parking is for guest only. There is a guest pass which only allows you to park in guest parking lot, but my vehicle had residential pass which allows me to park in the guest parking or residential.Business Response

Contract towing towed my car (properly parked in the community but failed to display the parking permit in the correct location, irrelevant to this case). Upon retrieving the car and inspecting the vehicle, I spotted and pointed out some damages to a back wheel by their towing (pictures included in the attachment) to the staff. I was instructed to send the complaint to the company email. The company acknowledged the email a few days later. But they stated over the phone that they would not contact me for a solution within at least the next 3 months. It seems that they would rather prolong the process than reach a solution.Business Response

Thank you for reaching out regarding the recent complaint made by *** ***. We appreciate the opportunity to provide clarification on this matter.
1. Damage Claim Review
The customer has claimed that their vehicle sustained damage as a result of our services. However, upon thorough review and inspection, it was determined that the reported damage was pre-existing. This assessment was based on the following:
Photographic Evidence: Our standard procedure includes taking photographs of vehicles before any action is taken, such as towing. In the photographs taken prior to service, the alleged damage was already visible, indicating that it was present before our involvement.
Given this evidence, we concluded that the damage reported by the customer could not have occurred during our handling of the vehicle.
2. Communication and Transparency
We communicated our findings to the customer and explained why the claim was denied. However, as of now, the customer has not provided any additional evidence that disputes our assessment or suggests new damage occurred as a result of our actions.
3. Our Commitment to Fairness
We take claims of damage very seriously and have a thorough review process in place to ensure that all customer concerns are evaluated fairly. While we stand by our initial decision to deny this particular claim based on the evidence, we remain open to further discussions if the customer can provide new information or documentation supporting their case.
We appreciate your assistance in mediating this situation and are committed to resolving any legitimate concerns raised by our customers.
Sincerely,

I am rejecting this response because: The business doesn't support its statement that the damage was produced before the towing and falsely used a picture taken by me at the time when I retrieved the vehicle. Please find the picture evidence in the attachment, where it clearly shows that the picture was provided by me, after the towing, not before. If their claim was true that they have proof the damage was present before their job, please include evidence instead of taking a partial screenshot of the email chain to misclaim the source of the picture. In addition, as shown in the email chain from the attachment, I have replied to them on Nov. 5, to which they never followed up.

Dear *** ***,
Thank you for giving us the opportunity to address this concern. At Contract Towing, we take customer satisfaction and transparency very seriously, and we appreciate the opportunity to clarify the situation regarding this damage claim.
Upon reviewing the complaint and conducting a thorough investigation, we found that the damage in question was pre-existing and occurred prior to our service. This conclusion was supported by photos taken before tow.
Our company policy is to document the condition of the vehicle before and after every service to ensure clarity and accountability. Based on this documentation, the damage noted in the claim matches pre-existing conditions recorded before our involvement.
While we regret any inconvenience or frustration this situation may have caused, we are confident that the evidence supports our findings. That said, we remain committed to maintaining open communication and resolving issues whenever possible. If the customer has any additional information or evidence to provide, we are more than willing to review it.
Thank you for your understanding and for facilitating this process. Please feel free to reach out if any further clarification is needed.

I am rejecting this response because:Contract towing, the business, still insists that the damage occurred prior to the towing and claims to have documented the damage without providing any evidence to support their claim. The pictures they attached during previous communication, as have been pointed out, were taken by me during retrieval and reported to them via email. A full email communication between us was included in the previous communication, which clearly shows I sent them the pictures.

This company is a predatory towing company. They towed our service truck while our technician was inside the home getting a parking pass from the resident.
