On 02/20/2023 I purchased a prom dress for my granddaughter. The seamstress asked if we could wait a few minutes for her to tighten up the class we gladly. The cost of the dress was $541.15. The night of prime as she was dancing, the clasp broke. It held up the entire top of the dress, so for the remainder of the evening she had to wear a coat. I called Gippers after prom and spoke to a manager. The manager said, unfortunately, theres nothing we can do about it. I am so sorry these things happen.Business response

From the pictures provided by the customer, they purchased a dress that was too small. The photos also show that the customer had added additional cups in to the dress which would make the top fit tighter. Because we can not control what happens to a garment after it has left our store nor can we make a customer buy any specific size, we have a strict no return/ no exchange policy on all purchases. There is absolutely no warranty offered on any product sold in our store as special occasion dresses are typically one time use garments.
I have provided a picture of the sign that sits atop our checkout counter as well as the policy stated at the bottom of every receipt a customer receives.

I am rejecting this response because: the dress was sold to **, and at no time were we ever told that the dress was too small. In fact, the person who sold ** the dress, said how nicely it fit, and that it would not need *************** as far as the sign, I do not remember reading it it may be there, however in my opinion, that is certainly poor business practice for a company selling dresses at such a cost. Yes, the cups were added because the dress did not have enough support. I am just concerned that that store should be listed as Buyer Beware!

Per my initial response with images included, our store has a very clear no return no exchange policy that is stated both in writing in multipole places including our checkout counter and provided on every receipt as well as verbally confirmed with the customer upon purchase. I would also like to reiterate the fact that there is absolutely no warranty/guarantee given on any item sold in our store in writing or verbally.Customer response

I am rejecting this response because the store sold me a dress that they must have realized had a clasp that had some problems or why else would they reinforced it to begin with. Also I repeat at no time were we told the dress we were purchasing was too small. This is a $550 dress and neither of these above practices seem like good business practice to me. How embarrassing to see someone a dress with a top that you already know has the possibility of a clasp breaking which will result in it falling completely down. I repeat this is not a good business practice for any store.
