In June 2022, I had a new awning installed. On December 14th, 2022, the awning uprooted and flew over the roof to the front yard due to poor installment. The columns were not mounted to the concrete. I feel that Promax Construction Services preforms poor workmanship on property. I need them to pay for the costs of the awning to be installed. I feel that Promax should pay for the cost of the replacement and installment of the awning, not my insurance.Business response

This complaint is in regards to a prefabricated patio cover we purchased from a reputable building supply company called ******** ******** ******. The product was manufactured by ********* ********. We installed the product per manufacturer specifications in August 2022. The consumer approved the product we purchased and installed. The patio cover was damaged during a severe wind storm that caused damage locally including tree branches in the neighborhood of the consumer. Immediately after we were notified of the damage, we inspected the property. We observed damage to neighborhood trees when consumers called us about the issue. After inspecting the property, we recommended the consumer file an insurance claim for weather related damage. We promptly sent a crew to the property to clean the property of debris. The consumer filed an insurance claim. The claim was approved and the adjustor agreed the patio cover was damaged due to high winds. The consumer signed an agreement with us to repair the patio cover and compensate Promax with the insurance proceeds. The signed agreement is attached to this response and lists the claim # of the insurance claim. Weeks later after the consumer received the insurance proceeds, the consumer refused to forward insurance funds to our company to rebuild the patio cover. We encourage the consumer to follow through with our original agreement so we can restore the patio cover.Initial Complaint

A contract was signed with Promax Construction on 7/6/2022 for new siding, gutters, and to fix rotted fascia boards. The original contract was for $17,800. The final cost of the project was for $36,300. The construction was not started until 10/10/2022. It took them 25 working days to finish the project. There were a couple complications on our home they had to fix during the process of removing the siding which include having to spray for termites and putting in blown insulation. There were also a few days that weather had inhibited the crew from working. However, when the crew was here, they did not work a full day which was 07:30 to 15:30. Many days the crew would end their workday around 14:00, and throughout the day would take many breaks and sometimes be gone for more than an hour for lunch. The business committed to providing us a job that was to be finished in a timely manner and with great quality work. The guttering was put on 11/17/2022, 1 week following the final date of construction. We notified the business that we had some issues still with our gutters, light fixtures, and outlet box. Nothing to date has been done to fix those issues. We asked the business for an itemized invoice and a copy of their expense report for our home, specifically showing the breakdown of materials and labor fees. Attached is "screenshot" of what was emailed to us for our copy of itemized invoice. The cost showed us almost $20,000 more than what was originally contracted. Not to mention there was approximately $25,000 in labor cost, breaking down to $1000 day, most of which they did not work a full day or even show up for. We are disputing the cost that the company is charging us. When contacted about cost, the business gave us a $3285 discount, but did provide an explanation of where we were being discounted. Promax stated when we signed the contract they would provide weekly updates on cost and progress in order for us to confirm or deny cost actions, which was failed.Customer response

We have made direct contact with the consumer to resolve all outstanding issues. The consumer notified our company of the issues 11/26/22 on the same day the BBB complaint was filed. We dispatched a carpenter to review the issues on 11/26/22. 11/26/22 was a Saturday on a holiday weekend. We told the homeowner we would be back within the next 1-2 weeks to resolve the outstanding issues. All of the issues are minor and related to gutters, light fixtures, and an outlet box. We have an electrician scheduled and will update the BBB once these issues are resolved.
In regards to the extra cost and time to complete the project, after removing the siding we discovered extensive termite damage and wood rot. This greatly increased the time and material cost of the project. Our original contract stated there could be unexpected costs for bad wood beneath the siding. We replaced the sill plate on ½ of the house. The rim joists were replaced around the entire perimeter of the house. There was also minor wood rot in addition to that throughout the house. This was heavy carpentry work that was not initially evident until the siding was removed and was necessary for quality workmanship. We have attached photo evidence to the claim.
Thank youCustomer response
