I put a payment down on 12/16/21 of $2,654.53 for carpet/ planks to be laid by the contractor of the business. I was told they would be there for a week to get all flooring installed and they’d work approx 8:30-9:00 until 4:30. He would show up at 11 for an hour and take a 2 hour lunch then return for 2 hours and leave for the day. I had to be home all day or have someone there and have someone to pick up my child from school. This was an inconvenience and went on for over 2 weeks before he “finished” the job. I pointed out large gaps around the edges and he said they’d be fixed and also broken and chipped planks that he said would be replaced. These planks were in 2 bathrooms. He ended up “fixing” them with a marker or glue and never replaced anything. The gaps were left and filled with caulking. There are planks that aren’t snapped all the way together and damage to some walls and baseboards. He also cut down doors and they’re chipped and uneven and the closet doors weren’t put back properly. He laid carpet in 3 rooms and on the stairs. There’s a large dip between my master bedroom and bathroom that looks as though the mat underneath is missing. The carpet in the stairs isn’t pulled tight and bubbles due to not being adhered properly. I also have walls/ baseboards damaged in another room that carpet was installed in. I paid the final payment of $2,597.37 on 2/1/2022 because I didn’t want this same guy to mess anything else up. I’d already seen how he “fixed” things and didn’t really know what my options were. I contacted a partial owner on 2/7/2022 to share my experience and show pictures. I was told to contact ***** at the store which I did. ***** told me to find a contractor and get an estimate to have it fixed. I done so and after giving them the estimate they told me they weren’t liable for anything. I’m seeking a refund for labor and damages, also materials used in the 2 bathrooms to have it done properly by a contractor that doesn’t work for this business.

The consumer was requesting changes during our install. I completed the install, the consumer inspected the work and stated she was satisfied. We went above and beyond to work with the consumer to meet her scheduling needs, provided quality workmanship including doing extra work that the consumer was never charged for. We will offer no replacements, or refunds regarding this work.

      Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:
The business isn’t offering to do anything to correct the poor job that was done. I pointed out multiple things I wasn’t happy with when they were here and they didn’t fix them properly. I was told they would replace the planks that were chipped and they instead used a marker or glue to “fix” then. They also said they wouldn’t leave the gaps around the door facings and trim abs they just filled them in with caulking. None of the things that were “fixed” were done so professionally. I paid a professional flooring company for a professional job and that is not what I got. I’ve had two other contractors view the work and neither could believe how things  were done/ left. We have problems in almost every room. Some things we didn’t even see until a few days after the contractor left but many were pointed out when he was here. I asked to have someone else fix the work because the guy that done it was not fixing it in a professional manner. I was told to find someone and get an estimate and send it to them and they would look into it. I done just that and then they said they aren’t liable for anything. That isn’t right and sure isn’t how to run a good, honest business!

      Sincerely,

      ****** ******
