  County Wide Landscapers is the company that plows the snow on my street, ****** Dr, in Mill Creek subdivision and is hired by the Mill Creek *** which is funded by my property tax dollars. On December 28, 20**, one of their snow plows rammed into my custom wooden mailbox at the curb in front of my house causing significant damage. I filed a $300 property damage police report #**-38936 with the **** County Sherriff who, incidentally, told me they get many similar calls about damaged mailboxes. The mailbox was broken into a few pieces and the driver had to literally stop the truck and physically put the parts back on my lawn and even propped up the mailbox back onto the frame to make it seem like nothing happened. The mailbox is now being held together with a bungy cord so I can still get the mail. It took some time to inquire with the Mill Creek *** about which company plows my street, but I got their contact information from them and started calling. They never pick up the phone and they never called me back after leaving numerous messages. Finally, 2 months later, after asking the *** to please call them on my behalf and make them call me back, I finally get a call from them and they totally denied ever causing the damage because none of their drivers reported the damage to their supervisor. In fact, they even tried to tell me they don't even plow my street even though I know they are contracted to do so. The man I spoke to was very rude. He could care less about the damage, even though I have a photo taken immediately after it happened. I asked why they haven't called me back after leaving several messages. He said they don't work for me, they work for the ***. I told him you actually do work for me because I pay taxes to the ***. After speaking with the Sherriff again, he noted the name of the contractor who plowed my street on the report as part of the investigation and said I should continue to ask them to repair, replace or reimburse me for the damage.

  We are in fact contracted by the County *** to plow the street that this mailbox is on. Anytime a mailbox is damaged due to heavy snow rolling off of the plow hitting a mailbox in the past, we have informed the *** and never taken the mailbox away, nor have we been held responsible. The *** contacted us regarding this issue roughly 2 months after the incident which could have been caused by any other vehicles that drive up and down these streets. If in fact we had damaged this mailbox we would have known about it prior to the *** reaching out to us. We have also been informed during previous years that homeowners with wooden mailboxes are responsible for maintaining it which includes replacing rotted pieces that jeopardize the structural integrity of the structure.
