Fox valley gutter cap said they would send us a proposal for two options - just having our gutters replaced and having them replaced AND installing gutter guards. 8/29/23 Our proposal listed two lines listed as removing and replacing gutters for $2870 then the option with gutter guards at $3327 then a 3rd line for an option to use larger gutters clearly listed as ADDITIONAL cost. We saw the two costs and saw the one with option to install gutter guards was only a few hundred dollars more so we replied that we would go with the gutter gutter guards. They signed it and sent us the exact copy of the proposal again. On 9/29/23 when the job was completed we gave them a check for $3327 and they gave us a sealed envelope. we opened the envelope and it had BOTH lines from the proposal listed and added together for a total of $6197. We were shocked, and spoke to them and ***** the general manager even said when I explained my confusion that yes the proposal could have been worded better. Since that phone call they have been aggressive in saying that the proposal was very clear ( even though we NEVER saw ANY proposal or invoice or quote before the job was done that in any way suggested that those two lines would be added together and never got anything quoting a total cost of $6197) Also it took me 10 seconds to find the gutter guards online for around $3 a foot so total material cost was around $600 but they are now saying the cost for just that and the 1 hour to install was $3327!? More than the total cost to remove and replace all gutters and downspouts and set up and clean up and about 4 times longer in labor? I have expressed that I paid what we were quoted $3327 and they were very misleading in their quoting, but they are saying they were very clear and we still owe them $2870. I also still have peprwork from another house they did for us last summer 6/22 were they clearly labeled gutter guards as ADDITIONAL cost, and cost hundreds of dollars not over $3,000.Business response

On August 29th 2023 the client was presented with a proposal to install 5" gutters standard with 3x4" oversize downspouts $2870.00 with the OPTION to upgrade to the 6" oversize gutter $275.00 and the OPTION to install RAIN DROP gutter guard system $3327.00. On September 21 2023 client returned the signed proposal highlighting the 5" gutter and superimposed the request for the RAIN DROP gutter guard system. The work was completed on September 29 2023 and client was very happy with the workmanship and products installed. Unfortunately client may have misunderstood the proposal that they signed. The matter is presently under review and a resolution will be presented to the client in seven to ten days.Customer response

I am rejecting this response because: The response doesn't give any resolution, so I can't accept it as such.The business states "I may have misunderstood" but I am standing firm that there were options listed as "Additional" costs and lines that were not, plain and simple. It was stated that they would respond to me with their resolution thoughts after further review in the next **** days, so I assume I have to wait on that.
