A terrible company all around. Poorly packaged items, damages from shipping. Product (sword) was very inferior in finish, fitment and sharpening looked like a 8 year old did it with a rock. The sheath literally fell apart on day 3. I received nothing but smart mouth and nasty attitude from customer service. I will never order from kult of(thievery) athena again.Kult of Athena Response

Herb - we have responded to your public complaints often on the order you placed and received in July, 2022.There is no record of you reaching out to our customer service team via email or phone prior to leaving a review on our site. Because we respect our customer's opinions, we published your negative review on the product and experience. You have since complained that we altered your review and threatened us with legal action. As stated prior, we only alter reviews if the language is inappropriate or if a team member is attacked in name. We did not alter yours, and we published it.Review from Anthony K

I've tried this place fewer than a handful of times. It started out OK, but has just gone downhill from there. The last straw was a purchase of a medieval cutlery set with a leather carrying pouch. The only usable piece is the leather pouch. I bought 3 sets & they came delivered in plastic as the items were well oiled to protect them from corrosion. That was fine until I decided to open one & clean it up to use. I've bought these from other places before, so I cleaned it the way I was instructed from past vendors--**** dish soap & warm water. Dry them immediately. The water was black when I was done. The rag had to be thrown away. It was just filthy. I waited a day & checked them out again. I could still get black residue to come off on my hands from the "rough polished" part of the utensils. So, I washed & dried them again. Still got black residue to rub off on my skin. Called KOA several times. NOBODY answered the phone. I left a couple of voicemails in the phone system. NOBODY called me back. I finally emailed them & got a reply. I explained the issue to them emphasizing that this can't be right. They wanted photos of the residue on my hands. I sent them photos & they replied by saying it was "normal" & to send them back if I was not happy. That way, according to their policy, they get out of paying for the return shipping. Since I didn't want to pay over $20 for shipping to & from KOA & have nothing to show for it, I decided to keep the set I tried to clean & return the other 2. The set is unusable, in my opinion, because you can't get them clean enough to start using them. I refuse to touch food with these utensils or put them in my mouth. There was no apology, advice, or any kind of attempt to save this transaction by KOA. Their policies are as medieval as their products. So, now, I have a really expensive medieval cutlery set that can only serve as a reminder, to *************** I will encounter, to never shop at this site again.Review from Mark T.

From KOA's website:Please note: this deposit is non-refundable. Turn around time is an estimate and can vary depending on the manufacturers given work load.I do believe this is KOA's way of collecting money from customers without delivering product.I placed an order for an Albion Sword through KOA in December 2020. I knew there would be a wait time, but at the 12 month **** I contacted KOA and was told the sword was still awaiting delivery. Here we are now in August 2022 and no sword. To make matters worse, I contacted ******, and they would not provide any details on my order (because I ordered through KOA) but they did say they were working on orders placed several months AFTER my order was placed. So, I sent nearly three hundred dollars to KOA who claims no sword is ready for delivery. And as I mentioned above the website says the deposit is nonrefundable. The only communication I receive from KOA is if I call and send emails. Out of courtesy to me, the customer, they have never sent a single communication.I am not sure what to do, but buyers planning to put a deposit on an item from KOA are warned. You WILL never see your deposit and you may NEVER see your purchase.I am not sure if at this point I should take legal action from KOA for deceitful practices based on the response I received from Albion.Review from Alex K

There is a girl named Nikkie that works there and is extremely rude to customers, she ignores questions and concerns the customer has and is immediately aggressive and mean. When I responded by getting angry as well she acted like I had no right to be, only she can be angry, and she handed me off to another employee who was great, diffused the situation immediately and resolved all problems. I don't know why they would keep this extremely rude person working for them, she very very nearly blew this sale as I was at a point where I was ready to just tell them to refund the full amount and i'll buy the sword elsewhere even if I have to pay more for it. I hate giving any money at all to places that employ people that are as extremely rude as Nikkie was! With that in mind, if you also cannot stand dealing with extremely rude people, you might want to consider shopping elsewhere.Review from Rudy P

I ordered an item from KOA and paid the extra fee for sharpening. When I received the item, i noticed the blade was not sharp at all. In addition, the leather on the scabbard had a big oil stain and the item had other minor defects that would have been easy to spot during a simple QA (quaity assurance) process.I reached out to customer service and after 3 phone calls, I managed to obtain a return label to ship the item back for replacement. When the replacement item arrived, I immediately saw that the blade was not symmetric and the center ridge was off-center.I reached out to customer service again and this time took me several days to speak with someone.I ended up returning the item at my expenses, and obtained a partial refund (minus shipping cost). So, after a process that took 2 months, here is the take away:1) The folks at Kult Of Athena DO NOT perform any kind of quality control/assurance on the products they re-sell 2) The folks at Kult of Athena DO NOT take responsibility for their mistakes.... In both my situations they claimed that this items are hand made so they can have oil stains or asymmetric blades... In my humble opinion, a re-seller should verify the quality of the products prior to shipping it to their customers, so claiming that an oil stain on the leather is normal sounds pretty lame. 3) As for the blade, I own several swords and am firmly convinced that the issue with this one was due to a poor quality sharpening procedure, but again, Kult of Athena claimed that the item is handmade and waived all responsibility... In principle, I could even accept this excuse but they should have seen the issue when inspecting the item IF they actually checked the quality prior to shipping it out... And we already know they didn't.4) Kult of Athena's business misconduct ended up costing me $40 in out of pocket expenses. To conclude, I recommend you don't do business with these people, they are really bad.If you really need to buy from them, for the love of God DO NOT get your item sharpened, they'll mess it up and claim it's the manufacturer's fault. If you actually do business with them and you are not satisfied for any reason, just ask for a return label and a refund.... Don't fall in the trap of getting a replacement, because after that, returning the item again will be an out-of-your-pocket cost.Do yourself a favor, avoid Kult of Athena
