Terrible childcare! The program was SEVERELY understaffed in the ********** area. Sent my kindergarten age son to the summer camp and pulled him out on the 3rd day when bullying was an obvious problem. My son's behavior changed. He became easily upset and started doing aggressive flicking behaviors with his hands -- learned from the bully. There were approximately three classrooms with kids from kindergarten to 8th grade mixed in together! Common sense would at least keep children clustered by ages. When I picked my son up on the third day, he came running, yelling, and crying to me. He had dirt on his clothes and face. He was scared and obviously had been bullied. When I went to the classroom he was in, the lights were out and all 30ish of the kids were sitting around the ONE adult. I talked to three staff members and all they could tell me is that, after lunch, my son walked out of the line and was visibly upset. How was no one watching the kids in a line after lunch? Staff informed me they are not able to help the kids but the older kids are able to help the younger kids. Having the older elementary school kids responsible for the younger kids is INSANE! Thankfully, our son was accepted to a school that does NOT use this program for camp or aftercare. This program gives CPS employees a significant discount but it's not worth the physical or mental health and safety of a child. As someone who works with children, myself, I wouldn't send my child to any of their programs if they paid me to!
