I hired Kelvins to redo sidewalks at my residence last spring. After only a couple of months there were noticeable cracking throughout many areas of the sidewalks. When I had contacted the owner *************************, he sent me a article via email why concrete cracks. I had even sent him pictures of the damaged concrete and had asked him to stop by so we could discuss a couple of times and he has never responded, I had other professionals look at the work and they said that this should have never happened and that he had not done the job correctly. This has all took place from mid summer to the fall and I am upset at all the money I spent on this project and the lack of professionalism this owner has.

I spoke to the homeowner at this project in regards to complaint last year regarding the cracking in his sidewalk and I mentioned to him that with what I had observe at his home at this time was multiple issues- There is a huge open manhole basin next to his side in his rear yard, I wasn't sure if the cause of the cracking was because of excessive water going into manhole which would make the surrounding ground unstable
- the other reason could have been the rain drought that we had during the months of the installation of the concrete sidewalk which would cause the ground shrink and settle, in return the sidewalk would also move and crack in the concrete control joints which the joints are installed purposely for the concrete to crack in joints

I am rejecting this response because: The cracks within the joints are too numerous to offer that explanation. There is also a TOP surface crack on the entrance piece of concrete that leads one to believe the concrete was either poor quality or improper preparation and or installation of concrete. I am not sure if proper prep was done in the way of gravel base added. With all the years of having concrete done at my various homes I have never seen this happen in such a short time. The poor workmanship was also noted when the workers poured excess concrete in my neighbors sewer drain for which they had to come back and clean it out. I have had several neighbors also comment on the "terrible job" that was done. When I had asked him several times to come to the house and go over it with me, he had not.

I would like to know what the customer is looking to get to make him a satisfied customer because it is a 100 % guarantee that all concrete is going to crack with in 24- 48 hours after installation I have attached the link below that I send to all my customers at time of sending the original proposal and contract

I am rejecting this response because:**** the owner indicated in his last remarks that it is 100% guaranteed that all concrete is going to crack within 24 to 48 hours. If that was the case why would anyone choose to put in concrete. I have seen other jobs that Kelvin has done and they have not cracked. If your response is that it was an unusual weather condition for the spring then all of your clients done in that time frame should have had the same problem with cracking concrete. If you choose not to replace sections of the sidewalks that are cracked then I would like a full refund of contract and invoiced amount of $3,310 so that I can hire someone else to replace the sidewalks.
