On Sunday, 1/21/24, around 4:00 PM I was involved in a hit and run traffic accident. North Shore Towing was called to the scene and I was told by the drivers that my vehicle could not be towed to Gerber Collision in Highland Park. They informed me that they had to take my vehicle to their lot and that they would drop my vehicle off the next day. Something about them having to pickup the hit and run vehicle which was subsequently recovered. Charge for the tow was $285. The following day when I was attempting to make arrangements to have the vehicle transferred, I was informed that there would be an ADDITIONAL charge to have the vehicle towed to Gerber Collision. I was never made aware that there would be a second towing charge. I am now faced with a $470 bill which I had to ******** to get my vehicle released in order to be salvaged (total loss) by a hit and run driver who had no insurance.

I have lived at ********************************************************************* ******************************* since 2015 and they do not have enough parking spaces to support the amount of parking stickers that they give out, so residents are forced to park elsewhere at times. I told my association representative in July 2023 that I have a new car and needed a sticker for parking. She told me that I could only get it from a certain association representative name ******. I told her that every time I tried to call him, it went to voicemail. She called him while I was there and he answered and said that he gets home at 5:30pm and I could come anytime after that. I went to his house at about 6:30pm that day and his wife told me that he was not home and she did not know when he was coming back. I continued calling him and it kept going to voicemail.,and I visited another time and he was still not home. I gave up on trying to get a hold of him. I spoke with a local police officer and he told me that I could park across the street if necessary at Creekside Plaza without getting towed. On 11/4/2023 at 2:20 am my vehicle was towed from the Creekside Plaza where I was parked and waiting to do my laundry. The laundromat is opened 24 hours and is usually busy on the weekends so I parked my car in the lot and walked home(across the street), planning to come back to do my laundry. When I returned my car was gone. Somehow I knew that it was towed because this towing company also works with *********** association and is known for targeting cars without a parking sticker from ****************************** The towing company told me that someone called it in, but on the invoice that they provided it states that towing was made pursuant to patrol. My Association representative answered my call the day I got towed and told me that renters do not get the same privileges as homeowners and he will give renters a sticker when he gets around to it, regardless of whenever they requested one.

We hold a relocation contract with both of the properties mentioned in this complaint. What they are stating about not enough parking at their home is true. Each tenant gets 2 stickers & these are provided by their association as he mentioned. They are difficult to get ahold of as he has stated.  We are contracted to tow cars without these permits-as they have also stated. These tenants are the reason the parking lot across the street entered into a contract with us. A car that is left unattended is considered "unauthorized parking". So even if he used the laundry mat, he left the property while his clothes were there, which they do not allow. All cars on that lot are called into the management company & they approve the tows (or tell us the car belongs there & to leave it). There are also signs on the property warning about unauthorized parking. It sounds like the issue is with his association & the inability to be able to park on property & not with us who are simply doing what we are hired to do (patrol for cars that dont belong). No refund will be issued concerning this matter

I am rejecting this response because:
I reject this response. The laundromat attendant was not there at the time so i do not know who could have called in for the tow. The liquor store next door to the laundromat closed at 2 am and i made sure that i was not parked in their spaces.  There are no signs in the laundromat that state you cannot leave your clothes in the machines unattended or your vehicle will get towed.  I waited to do my laundry until after midnight because that is when it is least busy and sometimes work for my schedule.. It is a 24 hour laundromat so they should expect that people will do laundry at all hours depending on their lifestyle and work shifts. It is kind of drastic to tow a car instead of providing a warning or a ticket. It should not matter if I had a colonial townhome sticker or not, I was doing business in a 24 hour lot and no other business in that lot can say that i was parked in their space so this was just bad judgment on the part of NorthShore Towing. I am requesting a refund.
      Sincerely,

My vehicle was towed on December 18 at 4:25am. The reason for tow says that the car has been parked guest parking for 7 days. My vehicle had the appropriate guest tags. I had to pay for uber to claim the car and pay $218.50 to claim the car even if it was inappropriately towed. I am attaching the rules provided by the property. The rules also state that if there is should be a notice of violation affixed to the vehicle if a violation has been identified, which was not done in this case.
