In November of 2019 my condo association purchased a new boiler for the building, for $38,000. The vendor assured us new boilers should last for 30 years. In January of 2022, it failed. We had no heat in our building for 5 days. The vendor found us a temporary boiler, and though too small for our building of 19 units, it managed to work. Not perfectly, but at least we had heat. While the original boiler quote was never signed, and a warranty wasn't in the quote, we paid the vendor in full for the boiler back in 2019. When it failed, however, the vendor said he doesn't offer a warranty, leaving us holding a dead boiler for 38K. Not only that, he charged us **** to install the used, temporary boiler, and has done nothing to help us since. He has refused to answer our calls or take us up on our offer to have him come to inspect the parts of the original boiler so he could file a claim with the manufacturer. He's demanding his money. Now it is nearly September and we will be forced to purchase a new boiler for another 40K because we have to have heat for our residents - it's the right thing to do, obviously, but the law requires it. Other vendors are saying we won't be able to get a new boiler until 2023. The lack of response, sense of urgency and overall professionalism on the vendor's part, not to mention a massive lack of integrity, is appalling. This isn't a lemon car for 3K. This was a major purchase and we went with this vendor because of his online ratings, knowledge and price. The owner - who is under "The Steam Whisperer" - failed miserably and should be held accountable. He has done absolutely nothing to help. He's washed his hands of the entire ordeal.
