On 7/21/23 I called to inform ******'s Garage I lost power. I informed them I was leveling my yard left by the electrician who installed power to garage. The tiller caught on something in dirt near garage causing a spark. I told her I don't understand how or why it happened because I was simply leveling yard and was not deep. The woman I spoke with said she would find out who the electrician was and call me Monday. I got no call Monday the 24th so on Tuesday 7/24/23 I called them. When I told the man I spoke with why I was calling, he asked me if I was the address on *****. I said yes. He then proceeded to tell me my problem was fixed yesterday that the electrician came out. I told him no one came to my home because I still had no power and I did not get a call from ******'s Garages neither did the electrician call. He said he would call back and when he did he said he spoke with the electrician who told him he fixed the problem and that my neighbors were looking at him. I told him again no one came because I still had no power. He said he would have the electrician call me. While waiting for the call I checked my cameras and the electrician popped my lock came onto my property unannounced covered up the wire with dirt and left. I called company back and told them this. Electrician called and said the lock was to pop, came the next day and I got power. As he was leaving, he confirmed my research the wire should be 18 inches deep. I called ******'s Garage and the woman I spoke with was very ****. She told me I was badgering them, they fixed the problem. I tried to reiterate my experience and told her the underground wire was not 18 inches deep causing tiller to strike the wire. She told me to prove it's not 18 inches deep and hung up on me. I didn't get a chance to add that the gutters on garage are also leaking.Business response

Dealing with this company has been very stressful. They are very unprofessional and rude once you sign the contract and make your 1st payment. I got a garage built, its beautiful but it sits very high off the ground. I paid 21,500$ now I need a step to exit the garage door and a ramp for my party door . This company is telling me its not their problem I have to find a outside contractor to do the work. I got an estimate of 775.00$ from someone they referred me to.. I called and asked can we work something out because of the mishap and I was told no its not a mishap on their part. I then received a very nasty, unprofessional, rude text saying I was trying to extort them for the money. I was also told that they would remove the wood fence that was taken down to build the garage. Its still in my backyard I called no one never returned the call since August. Now that I have this new issue I asked about the fence removal and was basically lied to that I was never told that they would take it away. I originally was gone go with another company who was charging 19,000$ but I was told I didnt need a building permit. I fired the 1st company and decided to go with georges garage the biggest mistake ever.Business response

We provided exactly what was stated in the contract. We did the concrete work as per the codes of the city, the customer did not have addition concrete added to her contract. When the issue arose we offered to fix it for the $775 which is the cost. We were not trying to make any money, we were trying to make the customer happy but concrete and concrete work costsCustomer response

******************* this company has been very unprofessional, rude, disrespectful, and lying every since I signed the contract and gave my 1st payment. I was never told anything about Possibly needing steps or a ramp after the garage was done, if I was informed of that I would have paid the extra money or went with another company.. after paying this company 21,500$ I thought I would have a completely finished garage. Instead I got a garage that is very hard to come in and out of because its so far off the ground. If I dont fall trying to get in or out someone else will.. I called the *************** to inspect the garage because by law thats my right. This is the 1st time Ive gotten a garage built.. if everything is right I will pay some more money to finish the unfinished garage. But because the company is so unprofessional and rude the Contractor they referred me to was told Not to do the ramp and steps for the 775$. I received a unprofessional text saying because I called the *************** on them the canceled him from coming outall I want is a completely finished garage with no safety issues.Business response

Garage was built 6 months ago or so and stilll under warranty vinyl siding was improperly installed causing warping and buckling in the panels. Tried patiently to let let them resolve it but was told a month ago to wait untill weather is warmer. When weather got better they sent a representative out to examine. The representative is trying to claim its from my barbecue grill thats 25 feet away on a new concrete patio i also paid georges to install and has never moved nor even been used all winter.***** from the office who has been completely unprofessional and rude throughout the whole construction process said she absolutely will not rectify the problem and will never fix it.Business response

Here is a copy of the contract and warranty for me and my fiance ***************************************** *************** have to get copies of the checks from my bank from me *********************** to ******** garage for full payment. They have been really awefull to deal with and have made false accusations against us as an excuse for there poor installation. I have also attached a copy for an estimate from a professional that came by and agreed the installation was not done properly i forwarded this estimate to georges and have written response from them that the company that gave estimate was crooks lying about it.Business response

We have been to the property and found that the siding has been melted. While on looking at the siding and speaking with the customer and telling them it had been melted, the customers asked if they paid for the siding would we repair it? We told them that we did not have anyone to do that and they would need to find someone. I highly doubt that the customers would offer to pay to repair the siding if they did not damage it. We also have passed all inspections with the city.Customer response

Had a garage built by Georges garage in ******** less than 12 months ago have had multiple issues with the garage from the service door to loose anchor bolts to now a garage door that is collapsing they have came out several times made adjustments to the door now the door is sagging in the center of the door itself and the main 16 foot garage door Ive called sent pictures and videos have made multiple attempts to resolve the issue and they keep blowing me offBusiness response

Contractor if refusing to honor their contract and finish my garage. We have paid per the payment schedule to the cent. Today they informed us that there is an error on the contract payment schedule and we have to pay more or they won't finish our garage. We have paid $19,659 against their contract for $20,095 and with last payment due after electrical and pipe bollard is installed. Payment Schedule Per the Signed Contract:Down Payment: $2,000 - paid in full Lumber Delivery: $16,659 - paid in full Garage Carpentry: $1,000 - paid in full Final Payment: $400 - not paid.We have already had problems with this contractor as we paid for a ***** Roof and they started installing a Hip Roof. We stopped them and they threatened to walk away from our job and not complete it. This was remedied and they installed the correct style roof, however we were afraid they would find a way to not finish our garage.Business response

I am rejecting this response because:1. I have retained an attorney to represent us in this matter
2. ******** Garages had an attorney send a letter threatening suit unless my complaints with the BBB and ******** Attorney General were withdrawn. This is a violation of the ******** Citizen Participation Act, 735 ILCS 110/1, et seq. by attempting to stifle my protected right to petition the government for relief regarding improper conduct by a business. This unscrupulous act by ******** Garages is also being submitted to the ******** Attorney General for investigation.
3. ******** Garages has been paid in full per the contract, as written and signed by ******** Garages. Contractor should honor their contract and take ownership of their $36 error in the payment schedule on this $20,095 job, complete the job per the contract at which time they will be paid in full. The items requiring attention (Currently all represent breaches of contract) are as follows:
A) Permit Amendment: Permit specifies a hip roof. As-built is a ***** roof as per the contract. Permit needs to be amended so the job can be inspected and closed
B) Complete Electrical per the Contract: 2 Interior Lights, 3 Double Outlets, 2 Switches, 2 External Coach Lights (properly mounted to siding with mounting blocks)
C) Carpentry not completed per the Contract. 4 - cross-ties installed when 6 - cross-ties are specified in the contract.
D) *************** on the corner to be installed per the Contract.
E) Remedy any inspection items and close the permit with the ***************.

I am rejecting this response because:The statement by Georges Garages that we shorted a payment completely is false. Payment schedule was paid to the cent per the original contract and we have proof of payment to back this up.
The fact is Georges Garages altered the contract without our knowledge after the contract was agreed and signed. We have original carbon copies to substantiate this. By their actions Georges Garages has demonstrated that their company lacks any integrity whatsoever. Furthermore, the $36 (thirty-six dollar) error in the payment schedule in their contract as written by their representative is by no means substantial enough to justify refusal to complete a $20,095 contract for a new garage. The $36 error in the payment schedule would have easily been reconciled with the final payment upon completion of the garage.
In addition, Georges Garages refuses to except that a protective corner post was included in the contract. Nearly every garage in ******* located at the corner of a T-ally has a protective post or barrier at the alley corner to prevent the garage from being damaged by vehicles turning the corner. This was specified in all 3 new garage proposals we received including the proposal from Georges Garages. Building a new garage on the corner of a T-alley in ******* without protecting the corner where vehicles turn would be extremely risky as it is only a matter of time before a vehicle cuts the turn short and hits the garage. Furthermore, we have the original proposal and records of text messages with the sales person confirming the protective post was included in our contract.
Last but not least, our contract with Georges Garages specifies 6 rafter ties and they only installed 4. Building code requires 1 rafter tie per every other roof joist and we are missing 2. When this was presented to Georges Garages they first accused me of lying. When presented pictures they argued 5 rafter ties were installed by stating a part of the structure that is clearly not a rafter tie counts as a rafter tie. As a result, our new garage is not structurally sound and is susceptible to rafter thrust.
In order to resolve this matter, the following is required of Georges Garages before September 30, 2021: #1 Reimburse us for installation of garage electrical ($2,575), #2 Reimburse us for installation of the protective post on the corner of the garage ($800), and #3 Install 2 additional 2"X6" rafter ties. Upon receipt funds for items #1 and #2, completion of item #3 AND after the Garage Permit is closed with the ***************, Final Payment of $400 plus $36 to correct the error in the payment schedule will be made to Georges Garages to close the contract.
