Just before the holidays, my husbands vehicle broke down in ******, **. We called our insurance, ********************************* with farmers to arrange to have it towed to State Street. I called to let them know our vehicle would be dropped off, explained what had happened, etc. He told me he would take a look and give me a call. I never heard back. I called several times to get an update and each time he had to locate the vehicle and look for the paperwork and said he would return my call. I never received a call back. After several attempts to find out what was going on with our vehicle, and not hearing back, I asked my husband to call hoping for a different result. He never heard back. I provided them our updated address, but they already had our phone numbers because we had that same vehicle repaired there within the last couple of years. I believe they even have our debit card number on file. Regardless we never heard from them not by phone, mail, email. We received A letter today from city auto wreckers in Aurora stating that they have had our vehicle since March 27, 2023. They also indicated we had until March 7, 2023 to claim the vehicle or essentially it was no longer ours. The letter from city auto wreckers indicated they would be charging us $50 per day for storage and we would need to pay somewhere over $550 just to get the car back, but as you know it is April 17, 2023. I have to assume they have junked our vehicle, without providing any notice, correspondence, documentation, in fact we still dont know what is wrong with our vehicle. Despite many calls requesting information about my vehicle, we never heard back from anyone. The car was not drivable, so I wasnt able to swing by and pick it up. I trusted State Street to operate ethically & professionally, to simply inspect the vehicle & notify ********** needed & estimated cost. The vehicle has an active insurance policy, title is in our possession. We clearly did not abandon our vehicle.
