I went to MCW Auto Repair on October 5, 2023 for them to fix my passenger side door which I severely damaged while turning into a fire hydrant. **** and ******, the owners, agreed to accept $1310, which was the amount approved from the insurance company. Out of this amount, $500 was my responsibility as this was my deductible amount. After I picked up my car, I noticed a line on the outside of the door. I went back, and **** told me that the repair was already done, but as a one-time courtesy, they would fix the visible line on the door. I am not sure what was done, because a few days later the line appeared again, and it kept getting longer and longer. I went back to *** and was told that they could not help me any longer because they already performed the job. I received a second opinion from another body shop called Tempo Auto. According to them, the insurance estimate was to replace the skin or the door, not to repair the door, which is what MCW Auto Repair tried to do. Tempo Auto took out the door assembly and noticed a piece of wood inside the door, which they can only speculate was placed for some sort of support. Temp Auto said that if I can recoup my money they can certainly replace the door for $1310. I am a senior citizen, my income is only $1283 which I receive from Social Security, and I do not have the money to spend to replace the door. This car belongs to my son-in-law and he has been lending it to me since my car died. I cannot give it back to him in this condition when he will request it back from me.
