- In the first week of September 2023, 153 replaced our roof.- They were supposed to replace the downspout, and gutters along with the roof and that did not happen up to our satisfaction until the end of November.- 153 failed to inform us on time about the problem with our skylight flashing before tearing down our old roof and after replacing it.- On December 1st, we noticed water leaking around the skylight into our ceiling. There was a lot of damage to our ceiling due to this leak. However, 153 did not accept their fault with not sealing the skylight properly. - We had our roof looked at by the insurance company and a few other independent roofing inspectors, who confirmed that the source of the leak is due to the flashing not being sealed properly around the skylight.- On December 14 2023, *********************, agreed to replace our skylight for $300.- It has been 6+ months since then and there has been no communication from her.- I had to pay an outside contractor $2500 out-of-pocket to fix the problem that shouldnt have happened with a new roof installation project after paying $27k to 153 Home improvement.- Im seeking reimbursement from 153 Home improvement for an amount equal to $2500 for failing to timely notify me of the problem with my skylight as well as failing to replace it within an appropriate timeframe after receiving a verbal agreement to fix the issue with my skylight.- There were a lot of deficiencies and delays with the work not being completed up to the standards by 153 Home Improvement.Business response

The leaking that has been caused was not done by us, but by the homeowner's ******************* messing up with the locations where they had to place the panels. I have attached the photos of the damages to this email as evidence. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

I am rejecting this response because:- Contractors accusations about the solar panel not being installed and causing the roof to leak are factually inconsistent.
- I got the roof inspected by two independent roofing inspectors when the leak started and all of them confirmed that the leak is due to the skylight.
- As soon as I got the skylight replaced back in April 2024, I no longer see any water leak. If the roof leak was due to the holes that the contractor supplied the photos of, the water leak shouldnt have stopped after replacing the skylight.
- The contractors responses do not address the fact that she agreed to replace the skylight for $300 via the text message I received from her.

Hi,
I do remember sending you that message but I also remember calling you a couple days later about it. I told you that I was not able to order the materials for the skylights due to it being out of the scope that any of my suppliers, at that time, could provide. However, we do not deserve this kind of review as we did not hear back from you about this issue either. As stated in an email I sent you, it has been six months since you could have brought up the issue. Even if you wanted a reimbursement, you no longer can due to the amount of time that has simply passed and that you did not let us try to resolve the issue in the first place. You could have called me, texted me, or emailed me about the issue, but you did not. It was your decision to get the skylight replaced without notification so that cost is on you and you only. All you are trying to do two months after spending the $2,500.00 is try to recoup the money spent. Unfortunately, due to your own actions, we cannot reimburse you in any way.

I am rejecting this response because:- The damage was done by the contractor due to which our roof was leaking.
- The contractor did not inform me via phone or email or text message that she will not be able to fulfill the replacement of the skylight as promised.
- A licensed contractor has to be insured to fix these kinds of issues occurring on their jobs.
- The contractor replaced my next door neighbors roof back in March 2024. They saw me as well when they were here and turned their faces around. This clearly indicates that they did not operate with goodwill.
- I had given sufficient time to the contractor to fix this issue. The last text message from the contractor to me was on December 14, *************************************************************************************************************** April 2024.
- I had shared multiple photos and videos of the damage getting worse with the contractor.
Sincerely,
Kushan Trivedi
