We have a smallish system on our roof ( installed by SOLARCITY when TESLA was SOLARCITY) 10 years ago and 2 powerwall batteries ( total cost: $35,000). The system would work beautifully if....it was properly managed or monitored. As it is , we have had to deal with 4 inverters going dead on us in the last 5 years. Now I read in many review it seems to be a common problem for TESLA. Whenever the inverter dies and the system hence stops working, communicating with TESLA is only through the app and a hurdle of painful chat box conversations that take forever and deliberately so, I venture to say: there is no phone number, no email -customer service is only through a chat box. TESLA basically does not want to deal with repairs or customers. Then they arrange for the repair appointment for.... 2 months later. 2 months later??? (and why does TESLA choose to replace these clearly subpar inverters every time with the same brand, or does not even look into what in our system can causes this insane high frequency of failure? Our last inverter lasted 1 day after installation before dying. Again, I am not kidding. We live in *******************, and our solar System seem to always break during the summer sunny month. So we get no electric production during the best months of the year because TESLA is unable to provide efficient repair service. Our solar investment is not paying off at all : it has been many hurdles to deal with Tesla, and the company is fundamentally negligent and inefficient. We will NEVER again buy anything from TESLA.

Worst company to deal with ever!!! In the last couple years, my roof leaked 5 times in 4 different rooms. People come out and fix it.And fix it and fix it... Took the panels off almost a year ago, Needed to put on a new roof because of all of the leaks (yes a new roof is great) They broke my pool by ripping out the ladder and ruining the lining. Me and my neighbors continue to find roofing nails Is in our yards flattening tires. Now my panels have been sitting there for that long. In my backyard where I need that space because it was utilized for something prior and will be utilized again. It has been months for them to try and get a permit to put them on.And now they're not even answering the city for what the city needs to approve it. It will be approved the same day but Tesla refuses to answer in a timely manner. It has been over a month my city has been waiting for an email response!!! I would never recommend this company to my worst enemy!!!!! Buyer beware!

Cannot recommend - installation of the solar panels caused a leak in our roofmy contract says they will remove the panels to get a new roof put on. Will not respond to calls or emails. Feels like they are avoiding connecting on purpose. I must get our lawyer involved. I paid 30k for this solar system. Avoid Tesla like the plague. They are a disaster and I have a heart condition. I cant take another dishonest company that wont honor their contract.

Service is terrible! A-b-s-o-l-u-t-e-l-y Terrible! Inverter went out. Took four weeks to get someone from Tesla to diagnose the problem. Then they order a new inverter rather then carry replacement spares. Wait another week for the replacement then get a scheduled install date three weeks out from receipt of the replacement. As the install date approaches, the date is pushed out another 1 1/2 weeks. BTW - inverters going out is more common than one would think based on others with Tesla systems. So system went out in the end of January. Might be back up running mid April. Can think of no other customer experience as bad as ********************************************* service.

I recently scheduled to have two Tesla Powerwalls installed in our house to supplement our solar panel array. Tesla contacted me and we agreed on a site survey date of 25 March to be held from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Yesterday, I was notified that the time was narrowed down to 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. I waited until 1:00 p.m. but no one showed up. Unfortunately, there is no way to contact the Tesla representative I have other than via e-mail, so I sent him a note letting him no one showed up and that I'd wait until 5:00 p.m.I was later contacted by the Tesla service rep who informed me the company they were contracting with to conduct the site survey had taken a snow day even though the roads have been completely clear since 7:00 a.m., yet no one attempted to e-mail or call me to let me know. So I spent an entire workday waiting for someone.I've informed the Tesla service representative that unless the contracting company wishes to compensate me for the day I wasted waiting for them, I no longer desire to do the project and requested my deposit be returned immediately. Although this isn't technically Tesla's fault as it was likely a sub-contractor, it is still their ultimate responsibility. To say I'm irate is putting it mildly.

I had Solar City panels installed in 2015. A few years ago, Tesla purchased SC. In 2020, I had a problem with panels, and Tesla replaced them. My lease is not up until ****. This week I just noticed a leak in my garage, directly below the panels. I spoke to a Tesla rep and she told me there is only a year warranty on the work done, and thus the panels are out of warranty. They want to charge 10k for a "remove and reinstall" to allow me to have a roofer to fix the leak- which they say they are not liable for. This is absolutely outrageous. They clearly did not seal the holes anchoring the system correctly, but though my lease is far from over, they are not liable for the damage they caused. When I signed up for the lease, the rep told me SC would charge $500 to take the system off when I needed a new roof. He also reassured me if there were ever any problems- because I am on a lease- it is all covered. Yes, I see that this is my stupidity for not carefully reading through the 25-page contract. Conveniently, they now charge 10k to have the panels removed and reinstalled (though the system was only worth $15000 in 2013). Essentially, they have found a way to make significant money off of the damage that they cause homeowners. They also told me that if someone else (besides Tesla) takes off the panels- that voids the warranty of the panels- which still has 10 years left. Y And though the sales rep who signed me up for Tesla reassured me that it would only cost me $500 for the removal and reinstall, that price was never specified in my contract, so they can now legally charge me 10k for it. This is so incredibly deceptive and exploitative.

We had Solar City panels installed about eight years ago, added a Tesla Powerwall just under two years ago. About three months ago, the system self-monitoring told us there was a problem. Sure enough, no power being generated, and that's when things went haywire. A call to a Tesla service person confirmed a problem, I was asked to look at a reading on what I guess was the inverter, which verified the problem. Turns out she just can't take my word for it, a service appointment had to be made. Service tech came out, did nothing but look at the same meter and confirm Yup, that's what is says. First delay - two weeks. (I'm guessing someone figured out how to get free inverters shipped by giving a false reading over the phone.)Inverter replacement service call was scheduled, six weeks out. They couldn't keep that one, resheduled a month later. That was today, Dec. 12. A rep called and asked if the inverter had arrived. Turns out they ship the inverter separately from the service call person. Nope, haven't seen it. Shortly, I get a text saying he'd tracking-numbered it to the wrong address, someplace in ***** (I live in **********). Someone will contact ** with a new service date. These days many companies are having trouble with employees and the supply chain, but the phrase "cluster-bleep" was made for this. People invest in solar panels and home batteries to go off the grid, we've been back on the grid for over three months, and the end is not in sight. If your car breaks under warranty, you get a loaner (at least in my experience). If we don't get reimbursed for our electric bills while Tesla can't get the job done, we've been screwed. NO stars for Tesla. Contact your congressperson.

System was installed in June 2023 and worked great for about 3 weeks. July 12/23, system stopped producing much electricity or charging the two power walls. Contacted Tesla and they said to change settings. Did that as they were looking into the reason production dropped. Continuously called for update and received different information each time as you can never reach the same person. Asked for a supervisor to call back on three different occasions and was told one would call back in 3dats. Case was closed and production still is about half of what it should be. No one ever calls or emails back. Zero help after system is paid in full. **************** is horrible!
