I am asking for a refund of $1000 of the adoption fee paid for my rescue puppy (******) from Wagging Hearts *** because the business acted unethically by failing to disclose vital health information that the dog had infectious parasitic diarrhea at the time of adoption. I picked up ****** on 6/12, paying $1595 for his adoption, a hefty price for a rescue as is. He was seen at a ********** on 6/10 in ******** and had a stool sample collected, as well as a neuter procedure. When picking up the dog, I asked the ****** mom (****) "Did his stool sample come back clean on 6/10?" She replied "yes, he has a clean **** of health." Later that evening I wrote to ***** (the Wagging Hearts LLC owner), stating ****** had had 4 loose stools since I picked him up earlier that day and I was concerned. She replied "His stool will be loose from the meds and his neuter. Stress and change of environment also causes loose stool." Before adopting ******, I spoke with ***** on the phone on 6/9, and she told me ****** was having "perfect stool". I continued giving him the same food he was eating at the rescue/****** home, and his meds that were provided by the ************ for his Neuter procedure. ****** became very ill on the night of 6/15 (three days after I picked him up), with completely liquid stool, lethargic, and would not eat or drink. He even vomited. The next morning, he was still very sick so I took him to the emergency vet, and had to miss work (a $300 shift as I am paid hourly). At the ** vet, they tested him for Parvo, gave him IV fluids, checked his blood count, and gave him nausea meds and Flagyl to help with the diarrhea. The first test for Parvo was inconclusive, so they repeated that test (which was negative), and asked him to come back the next day for more testing. On 6/15 he received more IV fluids, and another Parvo test which was negative. The first emergency vet **** on 6/14 was $805.40, the **** on 6/15 was $396.49.(Please see attachment for rest of info)
