We hired Kitchen remodeling Group LLC to renovate our kitchen and living room area (project cost $38,500 with 50% payment upfront). From the beginning, ********************* (the owner) verbally promised us that all the work would be finished within 5 weeks. The project started on April 27. There was some material progress made within the first 4 weeks. On May 26th (1 month after the project start) ********************* (the owner) asked for more money saying that he did not have enough money to buy the rest of the materials (cabinets and countertop stone). To help him finish the work sooner, we paid his company (Check + Wire Transfer) rest of the amount of total project cost except $500. After he got most of the money, he stopped sending any worker to work on our project, he kept asking for more time, he kept telling us that he was working on cutting the stones for the backsplash and countertops, but we never saw any material proof that this was the case. Week after week, we were promised that the work would be competed, but often, workers had failed to show up, citing all kinds of excuses. On June 16th, he admitted that he did not have money to complete our project, at which point we had paid most of the money. On June 28th, we asked for receipts of materials, but he was unable to produce them. We have paid almost all the money, and have not yet received any committed dates from him to finish the project. Over the last 70 days, his resources worked in our house for a total of 16 days. We have called or texted ***** almost every day, and he would always promise he would finish our work by the following week, but that never happened. He mentioned that he is very stressed and that we need to understand his situation while being patient, he warned us that going to court and making complaints would not help. We believe he is engaged into fraud practices, taking money from project to pay for another project. He is also not using licensed workers for electrical and plumbing jobs.
