Auto body repair for rear hit by another driver. Sharp Auto Body tore down my car and held it hostage for 2 months occurring 5 k in storage fees. He manipulated my wife and I telling us it was the insurance company who was at fault. He kept important parts and safety equipment. Car is in pieces and in storage.Business response

To Whom It May ******************************* was hit by an Allstate insured person. Allstate is horrible at handling claims. After a number of delays due to Allstate. Mr. ***** ***************** decided to go through ********************* Their issue was simply that State Farm and Allstate do NOT have an appraisal clause which simply means that the vehicle owner has no rights. This was explained to Mr. ***** ***************** on a number of occasions. **************** had literally blown up at me once. I called and spoke to his wife explaining that I was not going to deal with him any longer. ***************** explained to me that **************** is on medication but had stopped taking the medication. She was apologetic for her husbands behavior. ***************** and I were working out a solution and repair plan. ***************** was in my office. **************** called and told her that if she continued to work with me he would divorce her. Shortly after that he came into my front office as was out of his mind with blind rage. I immediately called the police. **************** told the police that he was going to kill me and burn down my building. There were 2 ****************** Officers on my property as well as the chief of police. **************** wanted to move his vehicle to another shop for repairs. I explained to the Island Lake Chief of Police that to move his vehicle **************** had incurred charges that would need to be paid just over $4000. The next thing I know a tow truck pulls up and starts hooking up ******************** vehicle. I go out into the parking lot and tell the chief that she is letting him commit a crime, called theft of services. She tells me to go back in the building. ******************** vehicle was towed away.
The chief comes into the office. I ask for an explanation of why she let him commit a crime and break the law by taking his vehicle without paying for it. She simply stated "It was either that or he was going to kill you."

I am rejecting this response because: ***** kept misleading my wife and trying to persuade her to sign for 13k dollars. When I walked in she said to me ***** is going to honor his word and do it for the ******* the insurance company was willing to pay, but after I made *** tell her the price she flipped out and we waited for the police. He damaged my car more by tearing it down leaving it outside un protected.

I have attached the information and cards from the *********** ****************** You can use the Freedom of Information Act to get these police reports. If you would like me to get them for you, I will be happy to. These reports will prove that **************** was the one who "flipped out" not his wife.
I am also going to respond to this complaint at ***************************************************** and copy ***************** on that same email. The fact that **************** is now, not only flat out lying, but even worse blaming his innocent wife who was as nice and kind as can be into this, and even worse blaming her for the police being called is simply tragic. I also believe it shows that **************** may have some mental challenges of some sort.
I will also repeat that against ******** state statue, ****************, assisted by the *********** Police Chief illegally towed his vehicle off my property owing over $4000 due. As I stated in my last response, the reason the Chief of Police let **************** take his vehicle, against state statue is because she was concerned for my safety and **************** was threatening to kill me and burn my business down. .
I will continue to pray for healing for *****************

I am rejecting this response because:
***** is lying about why we are upset. He stole my back glass / bumper / keys and numerous clips and screws making it very difficult to re assembly. ***** is a terrible man who also is an ordained minister. He is a public speaker also speaking on how to manipulate people and businesses. Hes the one that needs help mentally. I brought him business in good faith and he tried taking advantage. His friends *********************** and ***************** told me he is out of his mind and will get in trouble sooner or later the way he extorts money from customers and insurance companies. Insurance companies refuse to work with him. ***** also abused employees and I have 2 of them telling me how he scams people. I was mad and who wouldnt be. I told him I would blow him up on social media and I have never threatened to kill him or burn down the shop. I did say Im taking my car because hes ruining it by leaving it outside for months un covered. Lets stick to the facts *****, you lied to my wife and tried getting her to sign a contact for 13k to fix my 2020 hatch door. Makes no sense and GM will be contacting you soon Sharp Auto Body. Also OSHA is on him for violations.

Paid almost $4000 was to receive minor rust repair, paint on roof of car between sunroof and windshield and also **** and scratch cover on entire car plus "free" buffing of car and "free" interior detailing. No ****, scratch repair done, (minor) rust repair poorly done - over- sanded so fender is behind bumper edge. Also cracked paint on bumper around license plate and on edges when removing/replacing for fender repairs. Windshield trim must have been caught by their buffer - there are 2 "kinks" in trim now on both sides of windshield which may leak now. Several buffer "*****" on car front/rear fenders and bumper. Over-spray paint on trim on roof of car. (Rust repair should have been free as this shop replaced bumper after minor accident and scratched the bottom of the fenders and they agreed to fix under warranty for their previous work but then changed their mind. I agreed to pay anyway to avoid arguing with owner - since the car is in excellent it was worth it to have it fixed up.) Now, when brought back after this work, owner says someone hit car and cracked bumper which is not true, car was backed into driveway and I work from home, there are also no marks to indicate car was hit. Says windshield trim was like that - they didn't do that - it was not like that - my car is in excellent shape and has been well taken care of, they did this and my windshield may leak now because of what they did. Owner doesn't care about the ***** - it's irrelevant according to him - since the car was hit, it needs work anyway - he says for $1200 more they'll fix the damage that they caused. Car now needs to go to another shop to have their work fixed for at least as much as they charged to mess it up - I want my money back so I can fix my windshield, bumper and the damage they did where the rust was - which is probably going to cost more than what I paid them and they caused the damage.Business response

I showed the owner of the vehicle that the front windshield molding was bent and misaligned from photos in our file when she initially dropped the vehicle off. When clients drop off their car for repairs we take photos and review the vehicle with them. All this was noted in her file and I showed ******************** the pictures of the pre-existing damage including the roof molding when she came back in with her complaint. The vehicle has been impacted since we returned it to her. This is evident by the stress cracks in the paint. There is some minor rubbing compound on the roof moldings. I offered to have it removed she never brought the vehicle back in. All the repairs we did were done to her satisfaction since she paid the bill after looking the vehicle over when she picked it up. None of these issues were brought up when she picked it up because they either weren't there or they were pre-existing on the vehicle when she dropped it off like the windshield molding.

Mr. ********************** is a liar - When confronted with this issue, Mr ********************** and I both reviewed the before pictures and none of this damage shows in them because it wasn't there. The roof trim he adamantly refused that their shop did it and he did not offer to fix it - he DID NOT OFFER ANY REPAIRS for what they did. His shop is the ONLY shop that has ever done work on my car and they cracked the bumper when pulling it back to repair a small rust spot on the bottom of the rear fender. BUT it only cracked because the paint was missing an additive that gives it flexibility and HIS SHOP painted the bumper originally as they had replaced it after I had been rear ended several years ago.
When I picked up the car, I brought this issue up to him and he said it was like that and got very angry so I left. When I returned a few days later to discuss this with him again, he was physically and verbally threatening to me so I have proceeded with disputing payment to his business and at this point, have an estimate for $3400 just to repair the major issues they have caused. My credit card company has pulled the money back from him. Any notes added to my account were done after I confronted him with the damage. This is not how my car was when I took it in - my car is practically pristine and well maintained.
They damaged my windshield seal and my sunroof seal when working (paint was sun faded so they painted/clear coated the roof between the windshield and sunroof - they are CLEARLY damaged by a buffer - you can see the buffer marks on them and the sunroof seal has a hole in it - they buffed right through it.
I have been advised by the owner of another local body shop who knows Mr. ********************** personally, that Mr. ********************** has no less than 10 lawsuit pending right now - 1 of these is for Mr. ********************** hitting an employee and another is for hitting a customer. Since he is being sued for hitting people and he was threatening towards me each time I confronted him about this, I was scared to argue with him and therefore have disputed his charge and gotten my money back based on the estimate for the damage they caused.

To Whom It May **************** find it tragically sad that ******************** is accusing me of being a liar and then claiming that their are lawsuits filed against me, 2 of which are of me hitting people. None of this is true.
She did attempt to stop the credit card company from paying me. After the credit card company did their investigation, finding that: 1. ******************** signed a work order. 2. That, after reviewing our itemized bill, we did NOT do any work to the is***s she is claiming we caused. They promptly paid us the entire amount of our repair bill in full.
I would like to apologize to the BBB. I know you mission is to protect people from fraudulent businesses. There needs to be someone to protect businesses from fraudulent consumers.
Please let ******************** know that if she continues to tell people that I have 10 lawsuits and 2 of them are for hitting people that I will have no other choice than to *** her personally for defamation of character. She was foolish enough to put it in writing.
