BCI set up bath planet ********s for independent contractors. Then supply them with equipment . It appears that they have a rogue trader in ******* and ******* who runs both ********s . Name - ***************************. If you check previous BBB complaints prior to our involvement it appears the ********s were grabbing money and not fulfilling its obligations . We signed up with the Orlando ******** August 14th 2023 and are having the same experience as previous dated complaints. BCI have failed to regulate their business model or vet contractors they set up in business I understand BCI are a manufacturer , however they are associated with bath planet franchise and have a duty of care to protect and warn the public of rogue traders . We want an explanation as to what has happened and what BCI involvement is ? Do BCI just set these dealers up ? Give them the tools and when the going gets tough and fraud / deception and theft happens , just wash their hands ? BCI corporate have a big bath planet sign outside their corporate building and are guilty by association. . If indeed BCI help set these ********s up , they have a responsibility to audit and regulate business . I would like to know when BCI cut off supplying bath planet ******* ? Gutterglove ? And where they proactive in informing the public of a rogue trader ?

      Business response

BCI is a manufacture of some Bath Planet products, as well as other brands.  We are not a franchise.  We do not sell to the public.  We do not install.  Each of our customers are independently owned and operated.  They are independent contractors.  We don't tell our customers what to sell or employee them.  Our customers carry many product lines.

We do not sell to the public.  The homeowners contract is with the contractor directly.  In this case, Gutterglove South & Home Renovations/Gutter-Gard.  We have told this homeowner to contact their finance company and open an investigation, call the Attorney General, and/or get a Lawyer.

The scope of our authority is limited to the warranty of BCI products against manufacturing defects.

I am rejecting this response because:

you are not acknowledging that BCI are the parent company of bath planet. You are washing hands of responsibility. You have a duty of care to protect the public . BCI set up bath planet franchises and have clearly failed to vet or regulate their franchises  . Fraud has been committed and there appears to be a dark history from the owner of ***************** having apparent gambling issues / sales people committing loan fraud , also a apparent history of family trauma by the sales manager with the murder of her brother? Very alarming statement that came from the sales guy who was in our home ! Could this type of trauma contributed to the money grab and deception that occurred ? also looking at previous BBB complaints regarding Momnt ( loan transaction company ) also BBB complaints against bath planet and BCI , there appears to be a trend . Similar complaints happened before we experienced our issues and BCI have failed to acknowledge or regulate . BCI should have known there is a rogue trader at a location they helped set up and didnt inform the public or banks. We need to know what BCI have did proactive ? Also did they cut off supplying bath planet ******* location and if so, what date ? When were they aware of problems ? And why did further fraud happen after BBB complaints  ? BCI are the parent company . This is clear on websites . BCI cannot ignore what has happened . They are guilty by association enough of the copy and paste response please ! Please answer these questions and help customers that have been defrauded. This is going to get messy

      Sincerely,

      ***********************************

I am rejecting this response because: BCI have sent the usual copy and paste response. BCI set up bath planet ******* as a business and have failed to get involved with a rogue trader at one of the franchise locations. Advising me to do something already have is not good enough! I want answers to my questions on previous message . Example , why they didnt intervene when it was clear that fraud was happening ? What date did they cut off supplying that location ? We need answers to help with our investigation . BCI are guilty by association

A three-day job that started the day after Mother's Day. And here we are still waiting for material. Starting with salesman, call BCI Acrylic three time to verify the measurements would work without having to do concrete work or remove vanity. Two days later, a contractor came out to remeasure to make sure everything was correct. We got a call for material in and set a date. The first was the shower pan was the wrong one and had to be re-ordered (three more weeks for that). But they went with the chiseling concrete out to make the pan fit work. Also, the concierge of BCI Acrylic called, they had to cut our marble vanity in half to fit the pan and would be replaced by them. Then there was the wall that wasn't measured correctly and that had to be ordered. Now the doors and the supports are too short for the walls, that is being reordered but never made it to the house. So, here's another issue for me (homeowner) to deal with three pipes coming out of the wall caped from the other sink and no floors tile for the missing vanity half. BCI Acrylic has had eight months for damage control now. They have replaced the walls and shower doors in November 2023. The contactor left an overpowering smell from the adhesive used to anchor the walls and I had to use a third-party vendor to come to remove the odor at a cost of $849.76 to ozone the area after waiting from 12/8-15/23 for the company to do something about it. Now being bounce back and forth now on the vanity replacement. Good Luck, *************************** *******, **

I am rejecting this response because: Independently owned and operated are supported by ***. They are not advertised as independent contractors. *** is a bath manufacture of some of the Bath Planet products and supports the sale and advertising for the so-called contractors. They give advice, measurements, and what work at that job site to do the sales. *** dont do the installs but does provide the training & all the support needed. The salesman for us call their support team several times to make sure that the work could be done. Two days later a team of men came and redid the measurements and found all was good. Once the parts were at our location and demolition was already done. Found that the measurements were incorrect and that the *** concierge told us we had to have vanities cut in half for them to finish or start the job and she would replace the vanity. Now a three-day job has turned into 11 months of finger pointing. Have been working with *** installation manager to do warranty work. *** will not at this time take ownership of replacing the vanity. I am at this time going out of pocket to replace the vanity myself and I am looking for reimbursement from  *** for the vanity.

This is the parent company of Bath Planet. We contracted with Bath Planet ********. However, unlike other **** this one is not BBB accredited for some reason. We paid 40k for 1.5 baths to be added as well as other rooms to our basement. We have been left without the verbal or written agreements kept. We are still without electric or plumbing and unable to use the space though we have paid over 40k (our materials and other items we have since had to do ourselves). We need the job finished immediately. Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this letter will suffice, however, as the parent of bath planet in general, they need to know and take responsibility for the fact that individual owners are smearing the name of BCI as well since they are listed as the parent company.

I am writing to file a formal complaint against BCI Acrylic ***** specifically regarding an issue with one of their authorized dealers, Bath Planet. The complaint stems from a recent installation of two showers in my residence.Approximately 4 months ago, Bath Planet, acting as an authorized dealer for BCI Acrylic ***** installed two showers in my home. Unfortunately, one of the showers is now experiencing a water leak issue, resulting in a noticeable water spot on the ceiling directly below the affected shower.Despite my persistent attempts to contact Bath Planet for resolution, I have not received any response or assistance. This lack of communication is not only frustrating but also concerning, considering the potential damage to my home.I am seeking the Better Business Bureau's intervention to ensure that BCI Acrylic **** addresses and rectifies this issue promptly. It is my belief that your organization can play a vital role in facilitating communication and resolution in cases like these. If you require any additional information or documentation, please do not hesitate to contact me. I appreciate your prompt attention to this complaint and trust that the Better Business Bureau will assist in bringing a resolution to this matter.

I contacted this walk in tub company for my elderly dad and they have given my phone number to contractors who have weekly harassed me after many many times being told to never call my number again. This is what they do to the elderly when you enquire about these safety tubs. They never remove your phone number and you are continually harrassed and told they will remove your number but they never do.I have contacted the company and they take no responsibility blaming it on the contractors yet they are the ones who give the number out.I want my number completely removed and never to be bothered again. I recommend no one every enquire about this safety tub as they will be harassed weekly as I have been for a solid year! This business is the one giving the number to contractors yet they take no blame in all the contact I receive continually.I want it stopped and I want this company held accountable for all of the phone calls I have received trying to sell their product!I want no further contact by any and all those they are allowing to call me!

I am rejecting this response because:

My walls are ruined. The exterior wall hangs out 4" longer than it should be. Now it butts up to my window. The other blue painted wall was to end at the corner. Now the bandaid has been put on my blue painted wall. This is because of the installers covering up how the walls to hide the wreckage of my walls. My ceiling is damaged around the entire shower. It is because they didn't do the install correctly the first, second, and third time. The 4th time is the worst. I think they tried to cut costs on the install and didn't do the job right to begin with.

I paid $12,111.00 for the terrible service and product. *********************** refused to look at any photos or videos. He tried to threaten me when I told him I wanted my money back. Bath Planet says they have a 2 year refund guarantee. LIARS! Also, they have the good housekeeping seal. What a joke.

I want a full refund of $12,111.00 for the shower and I also need money for damages. The damages of 2 walls and my ceiling.

Please don't ever do business with Bath Planet.

I was set up with Bath Planet for a walk in shower. I ordered the subway tile in gray. The installer showed up on 10/27/21. I really liked it on that day. I paid $12,111.00 for the shower and install. On 11/5/21 I noticed the long wall was bowing out. I called ** to complain. They sent a different installer on 11/15/21. He couldn't fix the problem. This is a long story and not enough room to tell all. Anyway, the wall got replaced. All 3 walls started bowing. The back wall was replaced on 1/4/22. By early April, the wall was once again bowing along with the 2 short walls. On 8/2/22, the installer was here and I showed him where the walls would flap, remind him the shower rod was at least 2 inches too low, and every wall that came in has scuffing around the fake grout lines. I told him I wanted my money back and I want him to take the shower back.On 8/11/22, a new installer showed up to replace all 3 walls. He installed over the other walls. He had me look at the job and it looked better than the other installs. I pointed out the scuffing around fake grout lines. I believe the scuffing is a factory defect. On 11/11/22, I noticed that the walls are once again bulging out. I tried calling Bath Planets rep ******* that has worked on scheduling sine the beginning of this job. I had to leave a message for him. It is now 11/16/22. This company has the Better Housekeeping seal. I feel that I have been cheated on this mess. I now have 3 back walls on 4 side walls. It should have been done right the first time. I have let in 3 different installers on 7 different dates in my home. I don't want to let any installers in my home again.I want a refund of $12,111.00, the price I paid for a beautiful functional shower to make my husband and my life easier. I'm 63 and my husband is 66. I want what I paid for, not this crappy shower I'm dealing with again.

I am rejecting this response because:

I accidentally closed out this complaint on Nov. 25, 2022. I was confused by wanting to add to my complaint in the attachment box but I accidentally clicked the wrong button. I didn't realize this until I received an email back from BBB stating that I had closed it.

Please don't cancel me out. I wanted to add that *********************** called me on Friday 11/18/22at 5:15 PM. He started telling me he was going to order new walls for the shower. I told him it would have to wait until I heard back from the BBB. I know he had gotten the notice before calling me. He started raising his voice telling me I wasn't getting any money back. He said he would send his best crew to come back here. I told him he should have done that in the first place.

I asked him how many times is it acceptable to open my home for another re-build. I have had people from Bath Planet here 7 times in 1 year. This was just a tub to shower conversion, not a full bath remodel. When he started yelling at me I told him I should be recording the call since I felt like he was threatening me.

I paid $12,111.00 for the shower. The long wall has been replaced twice and they never removed the other walls behind it. So I have 3 walls stuck together. The short walls have been replaced but once again they never removed the other walls so I have 2 walls on each end. Their work looks like a child did it.

The shower was supposed to make life easier for my husband and I but it has turned into a nightmare.

      Thank you so much,

      Complaint: 18413812

I am rejecting this response because:

*********************** contacted me on Thursday, Dec. 8. We spoke about another shower rebuild. He said he would call me with a date on Friday, Dec. 9. He hasn't called me back. I really don't want them to work in my home again. This would be a 4th repair in less than a year. Their product is really crappy. Besides letting them back in, I have a wall that always needs touching up. The 1st installer cut off part of my wall trim and filled that in with caulk.

I paid $12,111 for a dream shower that was supposed to be easier for my husband and I. I am not letting Bath Planet off the hook.

      Sincerely,

      *****************************

I am writing in regard to Complaint# ********.

The original complaint had several issues listed. The company did return and address the water leak and the caulking issues. However the broken window piece has not been addressed. The gentleman that came out took several pictures and stated that his boss would be in touch. That has been over a month. I have tried to call and I am never able to speak to *****. He is always unavailable. I just want the window repaired. What are my options. Can the BBB assist me.
      Sincerely,

I receive numerous telemarketing calls nearly everyday from various local and in state telephone numbers. The calls are robo calls and have an automated voice impersonating a human. I investigated the source as thoroughly as possible and BCI Acrylic is the source/owner of the call centers originating the calls. I have gone to all measures to stop these harassing calls through numerous call backs and seeking information from what appears to be shadow companies. If I am mistaken forgive me, however, the conversations I've had with Bath Planet, *********** *************** ******* Home Improvement etc. ALL LEAD BACK to BCI Acrylic. I will be following up with the *** and FCC depending on BCI response.
