On Feb. 10, 2023 I received a Notice of School Speed Violation from Redspeed for a violation on Jan. 20th at 11:16 a.m. The speed they say was 73 in a 55 mph. 1st, I am a 65 yr old widow who dies not drive 73 mph. I dont believe this is a true violation or it was me driving the vehicle. My daughter and son-in-law drive the car also. Redspeed is demanding $75 or they will turn my name into the Ga DOT to prevent me from renewing the registration. Yet the only proof they offer me of the speed is a picture of my tag. I am denied my constitutional right of due process and there is no way I can defend myself against a machine. I live on $1600 a month and I cannot afford the $75. A legislature is bound by the Constitution that they cannot make a law that denies my constitutional rights.This penalty blatantly does just that. Courts in **** and ******* have ruled speed cameras unconstitutional. I drove to the school zone this morning and there were no flashing school zone lights and the only sign was one not much bigger than a notebook nestled in the bushes. The highway is 4 lanes and no students cross at this red light. I want this penalty reconsidered as it is unjust and not provable. This is a scam and evil against already suffering senior citizens. I am very attentive to the speed around schools and most of the time I use cruise control. You have no way to prove that high speed and I have no way to defend my speed. This is unconscionable that you can bill me without proof and threaten my driving privileges if I dont pay. I do know that you contributed $68,000 to the campaigns of Ga legislative candidates so your conflict of interest certainly looks like you bought the ability to scam Georgians.
