The Business has bad business practices. They overcharge for auto work and parts with different services in order to keep customers coming back for more repairs. The business does not write down on your receipt all the parts needed to do the work and the cost of the repairs.Initial Complaint

I took my car to ****** on 11-19-21, my check engine light was on, they were recommended by Air Illinois, they informed me that to fix the issue I needed a new timing chain for ********, I okayed the work, 2 weeks later I was contacted and told that I needed a Balance Shaft Module, price is now ********, I refused and said I would pick my car up, I was told my car is no longer operable, I would need to now tow a car that I drove to them. They emptied all of the oil out of my car, damaged the gasket on the oil pan to make sure I couldn't drive my car away. They charged me $750.00 for labor and returned to me an inoperable car. I would like my $750.00 back. They should also be removed from Air ******** list of recommended shops for Emissions. Yesterday 12-1-21 is when I went to pick my car up and wouldn't you know it, the receptionist was on the phone telling another customer the exact same thing that she told me but now the price was $3,750.00. I was also refused a chance to speak to the mechanic, I was told I don't care what other shops do, you can't talk to the mechanics here.Business response

To whom it may concern ***************************** was told on 11/19/2021 that her 2007 Kia ****** needed a timing chain. Her car failed the Emissions test due to timing issues. ******** was informed the cost for repairs. ******** was quoted $1250.00 ***************************** said ok give me a few minutes let me call you right back. After 15min or so ***************************** called back to give the ok for repairs. I ******* the receptionist asked ***************************** did she know she had a slight ticking noise coming from the engine.***************************** said yes a little, I ******* explained it was internal, inside the engine. Once the mechanic started taking the timing a loose which included dropping the oil pan the mechanic discovered that her Balance shaft module was off time. I called ***************************** and explained that she needed the balance shaft module and the cost for the part was $1200. ******** explained that she could not afford the repairs.I ******* explained that her car had no oil due to the fact that the oil pan was dropped and the oil pan gasket was damaged when it was removed. I explained that the labor was $750.00 because the job was opened and ******** declined repairs due to the fact she wasn't able to afford repairs. So I, ******* explained that we'll put everything back together but could not put oil in the car due to the fact that the oil pan gasket was damaged due to removal. So again the job was started and ***************************** could not afford the repairs to complete the timing job. Labor was put into the car so yes she was charged labor because she's the one who stopped the job due to lack of funds.
