Ordered date 5/21/2021 Car Battery with 3 year warranty Battery slowly got worse and would no longer hold a charge for more than 2 days.Car dealer tested battery and said it needs replacement. Bigtime says the battery is good enough.I want a warranty replacement.

      Business response

      04/22/2024

      Attached is supporting evidence.
      Customer sent ********************** back.
Tested good out of the box.
We were very clear on that from the first email sent to him from ******.
Yet, we still submitted for warranty.
      Optima limited warranty is attached.
The battery was not defective so no warranty issued.
His battery was sent back and BatteryJack expense.
Just a grown man upset he didn't get a free warranty a month before his warranty expired.
So he made threats and continued to make threats until he was blocked.

      Complaint: 21600293

I am rejecting this response because: My car dealer tested the battery and it is too week to hold a charge.
The battery fails to start the car that it is warranted to start.

Their battery tester does not produce the same load as the car.
See attached dealer invoice noting failed battery.

Also attached is the receipt for a new replacement battery that is working fine.
Please replace this battery under the warranty.

      Sincerely,
      *********************

Battery states failed, but shows no testing details.

We did apply a 200AMP load on a carbon pile tester.

"A carbon pile tester basically tests a battery by putting it under a load for several seconds to see it it's in good condition. It's the grand-daddy of electronic testers and, to some, it's still considered the best battery test"

Attached is a picture and email of the battery tested specs when it was shipped to the customer.

********************, please make note, we are not Interstate Batteries. Please disregard receipt from Interstate Batteries.

Customer wants a resolution but continues with an online smear campaign.

Battery tested good, there was nothing to warranty. Customer upset he did not get a free warranty within a month of warranty expiration.

      Complaint: 21600293

I am rejecting this response because: Car dealer diagnosed problem as a bad battery and a new battery has fixed the problem.

Again attached is repair estimate from a factory authorized ******* dealer noting a failed battery.
Attached a receipt for the replacement battery that fixed the problem.

Much like my cell phone when the battery wears out, the phone cant hold a charge for very long. The phone will work fine when fully charged, but a few hours later its dead.
They represented this Optima battery would work in my car and it has failed. Their test procedure would show failure if the battery was the car that it was designed for.
There is not a problem with my car and as proof a new battery fixed the problem.

Note my *************** was over $11k, I can afford a battery.  Note BigTimeBattery.com has D- BBB rating due solely to warranty claims.

      Sincerely

At this time, we are no longer going to be responding to this claim.

The details provided in the rejection still do not change the outcome.

Customer reached out regarding the **********************.
We have been actively working with the customer on the issue regarding his **********************.
The battery has a 2-year free replacement manufacturer defect only warranty.
We do troubleshoot the issues before we replace them as it is manufacturing defect only warranty.
Things like a parasitic draw, improper maintenance, and mishandling are not covered.
The battery was purchased in January, it only worked once.
The customer reaches out in March regarding the issue.
This is important to note as Lithium LIFP04 batteries are require different maintenance than an SLA battery.
There is booklet included with the battery for care.
We have a 30 day return policy; you can return the battery for any reason within 30 days for a full refund less the original shipping fees.
The item being outside of the 30 days, we no longer offer a refund,we must go through the warranty process.
Customer got frustrated with the series of questions.
We asked questions about the charger being used, the application and the charging system.
We did not say that the battery was in sleep mode.
When inquiring about a warranty, it is not an automatic approval, we review then approve or deny.
We did ask for the battery to be tested and for the customer to provide a testing ticket.
No proof of bad testing no warranty replacement.
It is true that we do not warranty batteries at 0V, this is considered ****** discharged.
No decision on the warranty has been made at the time of the report.

I purchased a Banshee motorcycle battery from Big Time Battery in April 2021. The main reason I purchased their brand was the 4-year warranty and the reasonable price. In August of 2023, my motorcycle would not start. The engine tried to turn over very slowly, then the battery was dead. I contacted customer service from Big Time, and was told I could either ship the battery back at my expense to have them test it, or could take it to a local shop to have it tested and email the results to them. I took the battery to ******** auto parts. They tested and it proved to be bad. The results said "Bad battery, Replace Battery." I emailed the receipt showing that to Big Time, and was told those results were unacceptable because it didn't show the voltage. I then took the battery to ******* and had it tested. This time, the results showed everything that I was told had to be printed on the receipt for the battery test. Both these tests were not simply hooking the battery to a voltage meter. The tests were run using computerized load test, battery testing machines. The ******* receipt said, "Bad Battery. Replace Battery." When I sent the results to Big Time, they told me the test showed the battery was good. ****** at Big Time told me to ship the battery back to them so they could test. She is now claiming they tested it and the battery is good. She claims that battery can lose 80% capacity in the first year of use. IF IT LOSES THAT MUCH CAPACITY, IT WON'T START ANYTHING! The 4-year warranty is a joke and a SCAM! They do not honor the warranty. This company has horrible reviews all over the Internet and I wan to warn other people to AVOID BUYING A BANSHEE MOTORCYCLE BATTERY FROM BIG TIME BATTERY! ****** told me they would refund me when I shipped the battery back to them, even if the battery tested good. I sent a copy of my purchase of the battery from their Amazon store. She claimed they couldn't find my order in their system. I INCLUDED A COPY OF THE ***** INVOICE FOR THEM!

Customer sent ********************** back after failing to provide a valid testing ticket. We emailed customer an example of a testing ticket so they would understand up front what was needed. Customer did not provide that so that is on them. Below is what we send customers who have defective batteries. They have two options. Attached is a testing ticket example. Testing ticket provided from ******* on 9/28/2023 shows a battery at 12.76V and 209CCA. The battery has a rating of 295CCA. The battery has been used for three years and has 70% capacity. That is a good battery. Batteries are consumable. If the battery simply needed a charge. Attached is an image of the battery specs after charge.

Funny how customer wrote ******************** with no foul language. But attached are emails of the language they used with us when they did not get their way.

The POS was not dead. If it was dead, it would have no voltage, and no CCA.

..We even offered customer a prepaid return label for the item: customer did not pay to send it back. 10/04/2023

      Complaint: 20719939

I am rejecting this response because the response by the business is nothing but LIES!

      1. "Customer sent ********************** back after failing to provide a valid testing ticket." I provided TWO valid testing tickets to BigTime Battery! Both of the test tickets were emailed to their customer service and also attached to my original BBB complaint. One ticket was from ******** Auto Parts and the other one was from ******** BOTH of those test tickets said, BATTERY FAILED. REPLACE BATTERY!

      2. "Customer did not provide that so that is on them." Again, BOTH battery test receipts were emailed to ****** at BigTime Battery and were also attached to my BBB complaint!

      3. " Testing ticket provided from ******* on 9/28/2023 shows a battery at 12.76V and 209CCA. The battery has a rating of 295CCA"  So, at least you now admit that I sent my test receipt from ******** The battery is supposed to have 295 CCA. It tested at 209, which is NOT enough to turn the engine of the motorcycle over to start it! This battery is junk as far as starting the motorcycle!

      4. "The battery has been used for three years and has 70% capacity." The battery was not used three years, it was two years and three months. YOUR WARRANTY is for FOUR years! I am at a little over HALF of that. Also, 70% is not enough to turn the bike over.

      5. "That is a good battery."  IT DOES NOT START THE MOTORCYCLE ANYMORE!

      6. "Funny how customer wrote ******************** with no foul language"  No foul language was used with BigTime Battery either, until after the 13th email when I was sick and tired of the runaround that they've been giving me!

      7. "We sent the good battery back"  You sent back the same DEAD battery that I sent to you. This battery does NOT start the motorcycle. I even made a video with your battery back in the bike, and trying to start it. This junk battery does NOT start the motorcycle. I will attach the video here if I can.

Bottom line, BigTime Battery is a crooked company. The claim a 4-Year Warranty but do not honor it. They are a low down, filthy, fraudulent bunch of scammers! I am going to make a ******* Video of their POS batteries and plaster it all over social media, warning others to stay away from BigTime.

(I tried attaching the video here but was unable to)

      Sincerely,

      ***************************

Attached is the most recent contact we have received from the customer.

One of the owners did reach out regarding this issue reaching the customers voicemail.

The owner is willing to discuss the issue if the customer can conduct themselves as an adult.

The customer tries to explain why they spoke to our representative in manner they did, simply put there is no acceptable reason.

The customer claims we gave them the run around.

The instructions sent were clear in what we require for testing with an attached example, and this was not provided.

When an acceptable ticket was received the battery was testing within good health for its age.

Customer disputed the denial, so we got the battery back.

We charged the battery, and let it sit over the weekend off the charge to ensure accurate testing.

The battery ultimately tested at 84%, this is still considered good for a battery of its age and use.

For a battery testing to be considered failing by manufactures defect the capacity would have to test below 70% for 2 years use.

Batteries are a consumable product, with use the capacity will decrease, this is the function of a battery, not a manufactures defect.

The warranty was denied as it is testing above industry standard for its age and use.

The battery not turning your bike over is not an acceptable form of testing the battery, and it not the scale we use to determine warranties.

We reserve the right to approve or deny a warranty.

Submitting for a warranty does not mean you will receive a replacement.

      Complaint: 20719939

I am rejecting this response because:

      1. "The owner is willing to discuss the issue if the customer can conduct themselves as an adult."  What are you talking about??? I have the transcripts of every email that was sent between myself and ******. Would you like to see them? Speaking of not acting like an adult or a professional business owner, here is what *******, the supposed owner, said on her voicemail to me: "I am willing to talk to you if you're not an A$$HOLE."  What kind of a business owner talks to a customer like that?

      2. "The instructions sent were clear in what we require for testing with an attached example, and this was not provided."  Again, like I've said over and over, I SENT THE REQUIRED BATTERY TEST RECEIPT FROM ******** (THE EXACT KIND THAT THEY GAVE IN THEIR INSTRUCTIONS WITH ALL THE DETAILS OF THE BATTERY TEST) to ******! The test receipts from both ******* AND ******** Autoparts were also  attached to my original complaint here, for the entire world to see!

      3. "The battery ultimately tested at 84%, this is still considered good for a battery of its age and use." Lie some more. Your previous response, recorded here for all to see, claimed the battery was at 70 percent! Regardless, the battery DOES NOT START THE MOTORCYCLCE! If I have a car battery go bad and not start my car while the battery is under warranty, do you think the company would say, "Well even if you can't start your car, you can still play the radio."?????

      4. "Batteries are a consumable product, with use the capacity will decrease, this is the function of a battery, not a manufactures defect." Of course batteries are a consumable product. People buy motorcycle batteries to....START THEIR MOTORCYCLES!  Your battery warrants that it will START THE MOTORCYCLE FOR FOUR YEARS! Your battery failed after 2 years! I have provided all documentation!

      5. "The warranty was denied as it is testing above industry standard for its age and use."  i have two receipts that both state BAD BATTERY, REPLACE BATTERY. THOSE RECEIPTS ARE ATTACHED TO THIS COMPLAINT FOR THE WHOLE WORLD WIDE WEB TO SEE!

      6. "The battery not turning your bike over is not an acceptable form of testing the battery, and it not the scale we use to determine warranties"  I have attached both receipts showing the battery is bad!

      7. "One of the owners did reach out regarding this issue reaching the customers voicemail."  I called back and asked for *******, the person who left the voicemail. I was told she was on another line and would call back. She never called back.

      Sincerely,
