My son hit a deer on Thankgiving. The police were called because his car was totaled. The police contacted a tow company to get the car. My son called the tow company the next day to see if he could get his belongings out of the car, they said "you have to pay" and we are closed today. We contacted them again on Saturday with the same response that they will not be open until Monday. I contacted them on MOnday--the owner was the most rude individual I have ever encountered. He told me that it was 54 dollars a day. I said even though you were not open and we could not get the car you still charge 54 dollars a day. I also asked if the 54 dollars a day was disclosed at the time of the towing or when my son called, he said he was not obligated to give that information and that the police should have told my son the cost since they were the ones that towed the car (this makes no sense). Since the car was totaled, my husband contacted a salvage yard to go to the tow place to obtain the car for salvage. Upon arrival, the salvage place was told that they could not go on the tow place's property without proof of workmans comp insurance (the salvage place said they had no idea what he was talking about and had never encountered this) Because they could not show him proof of this, the tow place charged us a second tow to tow the car out of the tow yard and into the parking lot. In total we were charged the following: 200 for the first tow, 75 dollars for the second tow, 50 dollars for clean up (not sure what that was for) 275 dollars for storage (3 days of which they were closed and we made an attempt to obtain the car and were told we could not) 100 for an administrative charge (to check the title even though my husband had the title in his hand at the tow place) for a grand total of 700 dollars. The man at the tow place even told my husband "your son should not have been hit by a deer" and laughed. The date of the tow was 11/25/21, we obtained the car on 11/29/2

I don't even know how to respond to all the lies in this complaint. Vehicle was towed at police request. We provided services and deserve to be paid for those services. No refund will be provided.

I am rejecting this response because: I did not lie in my complaint.  Yes, my vehicle was towed at the request of the police.  My issue with this business is that they charged me for storage of the vehicle on both Friday and Saturday when we called and attempted to obtain the vehicle and was informed by the business that they were closed.  Also we were charged for an extra tow because the tow company informed the salvage company they could not tow off the lot if they did not have proof of ********* comp insurance.  ******************* contacted their office and told the tow company that they had this insurance but the tow company wanted to see visual (the salvage company said they had never heard of this before).  Also we were charged an administrative fee (to check the title of the car even though we had the title of the car with us and showed the copy) and cleaning fee that were not explained.  The towing company also said they do not have an obligation to disclose their storage fees at the time of towing that the police are responsible for this (this makes no sense as how would the police know the cost of storage, they were just trying to assist my son who was just hit by a deer and had a totaled car).

      Sincerely,
