My car was brought in for an oil change and to replace a gasket. The bill was around $480. The car was fine until I left their shop. Oil light on, and it didn't sound right. Brought it back and they blamed it on a faulty oil filter. Left shop again, same problem, and it sounded worse. I brought the car to a certified mechanic, and he discovered what he described as absolute negligence. A metal part that sits within the oil filter was missing. (Meineke claims it was missing when we brought the car in, but this is impossible. That part is critical to oil reaching the engine. I would have had the problem earlier.) Also two bolts were loose, and two others were missing. There was also oil all over the inside of the hood and near the wiper blades, indicating that someone drove the car with the oil cap off. There were also metal shavinfs in the oil pan indicating oil was not getting to the engine. The oil filter will collapse on itself without this part. The mechanic fixed everything and provided a detailed description of said negligence. The employees, assistant manager, manager, and district manager have all denied everything despite the evidence. Despite not having seen the car, the district manager created his own scenario simply to avoid refunding money. The mechanic cost me $650 on top of the $480. Also, the employees admitted that that had the missing part in the shop. It seems as though they may have ordered the part in order to cover their tracks. Either way, if it was known that that part was critical then why wasn't I notified and why wasn't it installed? They all seem to be lying, and they seem h*** bent on absolutely not refunding my money. As a consumer I feel it is my right to have work done on my car properly since that is what I paid for. It cost me quite a bit of money to correct their mistakes. I gave them a chance initially, but both times they screwed it up and denied everything despite proof from a certified mechanic. I would like my money back.
